The alternator does not have anything to do with the blower fan for heat. You may have unhooked a wire by mistake, or you have a blown fuse. God-Bless!
check belt condition and tension first . Check for idler puller bearing failure. Check for water pump bearing failure and power steering problems. Check that the alternator is operational and not producing a frequency squeal for armature/ regulator failure.
REPLACE BATTERY CABLES.SOUND LIKE POOR GROUND AT BATTERY GROUND CABLE.IF BATTERY CABLES OLD AS VECHICLE REPLACE THEM.TURN OFF RADIO FIRST BEFORE REMOVING BATTERY CABLES.IF BATTERY CABLES OKAY.THE STARTER MOTOR COULD BE GOING BAD.
Sounds like your serpentine belt is slipping try checking your belt tension with engine off if ok replace belt or purchse belt dressing spray at your local parts house.
what it sounds like, is the serpentine fan belt may not have been put back on the right way?or like you said the alternator, but first make sure all the wiring to the alternator didn't get knocked loose. good luck.
