It makes a faint sort of noise when trying to start it. Doesn't turn over. it has done it before but i would come back an hr later and it would start right up and run fine until you left it sit for hrs. I metered the battery and alternator. alternator was putting out almost 19 volts so i changed that. Battery reads fine. I check it cold before trying to start it and it's at 13.24 volts. but when you try to start it makes that noise like battery is almost dead. Only very faint power. then sometimes it just starts like and runs like absolutely nothing is wrong.
Sounds like it's your battery cables, either a bad ground cable or the positive cable. I would replace both and see if that fixes your problem. Your local auto parts store has them and that is a pretty easy job.

Make sure all your battery connections are clean. take them off the battery and clean them and the posts on the battery .. also check the ground from the battery to the block and make sure its tight .. also check to see if the cable is tight on the starter when the engine is cold.. then check the back of the alternator to see if that positive line is tight on the alternator .. holler if you need more Jerry

Sounds like you have a toasted battery or alternator. Have you performed a load test on the battery? Have you tried to charge the battery? First remove the battery and charge it externally from the vehicle. If the battery won't hold a charge, or won't hold a charge of 12 volts, replace it. Once you have the vehicle started, test the operation of the alternator. It should be putting out at least 13 volts back to the battery to keep it charged - if it is putting less than 13 volts or more than 16 volts, replace the alternator.
