1992 Lexus SC400 No Heat, AC, Defrost (mode controls)

The problem:
1992 Lexus SC400
I was running the car with the heat blowing and I plugged in my 12v Garmin GPS into the cigarette lighter. The heat stopped. When I try to turn on the mode controls nothing shows up on the LCD, no air is coming out of the vents, none of the AC, defrost buttons are working. The green background of the LCD is on but it does not show any mode controls.

All other electrical systems seem to work fine. I checked the AC/ defrost fuse in the driver panel fuse box, it is ok. I bought a new heater relay, that didn't work.

Is there a simple fix . The Lexus manual does not have any information about the relays, just the fuses.

Mine is a 94 sc400, the heating/ac system will not respond. All other switches and electronics are working.

SOURCE: cigarette lighter stopped working

Being a Lexxus the cig lighter might be a very slight different size than the plugs you are trying to use. Does the lighter work to light cigarettes (or does it glow hot after being pushed in)? If it works then it's not the fuse. If it doesn't work, try the inner fuse box-the fuse box is located to the bottom left of the steering wheel behind the little change drawer.

SOURCE: CIGARETTE LIGHTER

It could be as simple as a blown fuse, could also be a bad socket or bad connections.

SOURCE: How do i change 12v power / cigarette lighter! in a Peugoet 206

The cigarette lighter is connected to a harness that's being the unit. You need to most likely remove the panel that the cigarette lighter is attached to in order to remove the lighter unit out. Once the unit is out, disconnect the wiring harness to exchange it. I don't know how exactly your lighter will come out

Seems to me that the a/c control panel unit is not responding. You probably need to replace it ($150-200).

The compressor clutch ti is engaging with heat mode, normal?

Depends.
The compressor will run when the control is in defrost, but should not in heat mode. In defrost mode the compressor runs to dry the air blowing onto the windshield.

Ac freon

Hello,
That shows to be 1.9 to 2.2lbs of R12 refrigerant.
That would be 30.4 ounces to 35.2 ounces. That's R12. Not R-134A
