Car dies if accelerator is not engaged

Sometimes that's caused by a vacuum leak near the manifold area.

Sometimes air in the coolant will cause an idle problem. Air will keep the air temp sensor from sending proper info.

The fuel pressure and fuel system needs to be inspected.

The should adjust the throttle of the fuel pump to control the flow of gas . if there is two much gas going to the engine while accelerating the car use to stop or it dies .the Idle should be adjusted to according to that the car can intake and exhaust properly.There is no such problem to the car but just that simple check the carburetor or fuel pump Idle and throttle. Adjust them that the car can run properly.

check the fuel pressure,replace the fuel pump-its in the tank

Don't let off the gas!

check all of the vaccum lines and the one behind the throttle body also try some STP gas treatment and if this helps replace your fuel filter also make sure you have at less a half tank of gas before you add the STP.

if it has a converter on it.....it may be stopped up, but before you replace it have the fuel pump checked, as it may not be getting enough gas at higher rpms. It will start and idle fine, but starve out when you press the pedal. Have you changed the fuel filter?That will cause the same problem.....

It sounds like the same thing that happened to my sons car. He was driving home from school and it just died on him. It acted like it wanted to start but would not. He replaced the ignition module and now it starts. He was gotting power from the coil to the distributor, but not from the distributor. Good luck
