He said his battery charger is not working, this has nothing to do with the car not starting or charging? So if anyone can recomend what he needs to do to get his battery charger working would be helpful to him.

SOURCE: Charging problem.. Wont charge battery

The instructions for installing a new alternator usually read to fully charge the battery (12.3 - 12.8 volt range). Otherwise, the alternator will be damaged when it initializes. I have seen some extreme damage result from installing a new alternator with a low-charge battery. The torque required to turn an alternator when damaged in this scenario is unbelieveable!

SOURCE: Cigarette Lighter Coming on but power not strong enough to charge anything

the two problems that you posted could be connected somehow by the alternator not charging because of the belt issue. so if you have a low battery, the cigarette lighter would have a low voltage also.

then on the ipod issue, the memory of the radio could have been lost due to removal of battery cables or the battery really went down on its voltage. just re-configure your radio to accept the ipod music.

SOURCE: 2002 sonata 2.4l battery dash light on. replaced alternator. Still not charging

I don't know if your car has an integrated regulator or not; some house the regulator in a section of the alternator case, others mount it remote from it. The regulator monitors the load and battery voltag,e primitively but effectively, and controls the current flowing through the field winding of the alternator to ground, changing the magnetic field intensity and consequently the voltage output of the alternator. The 'hot' end of the field is internally connected to the + output, the 'cold' end is controlled by a transistor inside the regulator which, in turn, is controlled by circuitry monitoring the system voltage.     Some alternators can be tested by sticking a wire through a specified opening, actually shorting the controlled end of the field to ground briefly, while monitoring the voltage across the battery, doing this though for seconds only. This essentially bypasses a suspected defective regulator; this causes the output voltage to rise instantly to its maximum of ~17 volts if the alternator is OK.
I don't recommend poking a wire at random into an available opening so having a service manual (Haynes-Chilton) would be nearly mandatory.

SOURCE: battery not charging

Sounds like the cells in the battery have shorted. It's probably shot. Does the car run once its jump started? Does it continue to run after the cables are removed, if so your alternator is ok and its the battery. Hope that helps.

My Thunderbolt 1.5 Watt solar charger's blue light is not on when it is in the sun. Is this an indicator that it is not charging?

It has to be the socket that has power at all times otherwise the power from the charger can't reach the battery.

And yes, if there are no lights on when supposedly charging, it isn't charging.

Why won't my car start? no lights interior/exterior.

It seems that the battery is incapable of holding a charge. You might try disconnecting the battery cables and try charging the battery again over night. Reconnect and see if anything works - if nothing works - it's time for a new battery.

How do I set the settings on my NAPA automatic starter/charger to charge my battery in the car or to try to use it to quick start the car battery? Both ways to set the starter/charger would be helpfu

Put it on medium or the quick charge. If it has a start or boost on it put it on that and try to start the car. Do not leave it on a high rate (start or boost)for long periods or the battery could explode.

How do I set the settings on my NAPA automatic starter/charger 85-435 to charge my car battery or to try to quick start my car? I have a 1997 VW Cabriolet.

It is best to "trickle charge" a low/dead car battery using the lowest setting. The "jump start" function will probably not have enough juice to start your car by itself. Refer to the manual of your charger for safety precautions.

Recharge battery Cadillac Deville 2005

You do not need to remove the battery to charge the battery. When you connect the charger you MUST be careful to connect the charger's positive lead to the positive terminal to the battery and the negative lead to the negative lead to the battery before you turn on the battery charger. Connecting the charger leads the wrong way around most likely damage the vehicle's electronics.
When you finish charging the battery turn off the charger before you disconnect the charger leads. This will prevent arcing between the leads and the battery.

I was charging my flat car battery using a selmar gaurdian professional battery charger, the fully charged light came on after about halfe an hour, i don't know if the battery is charged as i have not put...

if the charger is rated at 10 amps or more yes,it received a 'quick charge' enough to render it serviceable.the charger should be 'overcharge protected' so you could give the battery another 'zap' just prior to installation.
