Both brake lights went out at the same time. We've changed the brake light switch, the fuses, and the bulbs (all bought new, so there's no reason they should be bad). This needs fixed IMMEDIATELY, as one of us drives our van for a living! Somebody HELP!!!
Yes check for power and ground at the switch and at the tail lights
Maybe it's the switch on the brake pedal arm that controls the brace lights. It may need to be adjusted or replaced.
Hope this helps.
Did you actually check the brake light switch for power in and out ?
There are two different fuses, one for each side. And the circuit includes the turn signal switch.
The third brake light bypasses the turn signals.

Replace the brake switch located on the brake pedal shaft.

There should be some adjustment on it, if not replace it, it's about a $12 item.

have you tested the brake light switch? it is located at the top of the arm the brake pedal is attached to, it is very common for the wires to that switch to break inside the plastic insulation, the switch testing goes like this, there should be 12 volts present at both sides of the switch with the brake pedal depressed and one side without the pedal depressed.

you have to check all fuses with a test light both fuse boxes under hood and under dash... if good next to look for is the light switch itself... has any radio work been done to the lately... if so alot of times hooked up wrong will blow park fuse as one of the wires to radio is the park voltage to tell radio to dim down some

Broken power wire usually breaks at rear door harness flex point. Open outer casing & inspect for broken wire.
