Chrysler 300m, Oil lite comes on then engine ticks then cuts off

I was stuck in the snow and when i hit the gas white smoke(smelled like burnt rubber) started coming in thru the vents and car cuts off. Now car will fine for about 15 minutes then the oil lite will come on then the engine starts ticking then the car will cut off. After car cools it will start up fine and runs quiet until it drives a few miles. I had just changed the oil about a week before this happened and the oil still looks good(clear). Note: car is NOT overheating or smoking. ENGINE or OIL PRESSURE problem?

SOURCE: Oil light comes on, then engine ticks, then car cuts off

When you got stuck in the snow did it impact hard (quick stop or small drop like a deeper ditch)? If this is the case it could be the sending unit might have been dammaged in some way. I would have the shop take a look at.

Why is my 1998 toyota corolla oil getting short

Is there any white smoke? Could be your valve stem seals. But the Toyota Corolla in this year's is known for burning oil. If you are having to add more than 1 quart per month. You may have a problem. Check for the obvious. Milky oil. Idle it to op temp and smell exhaust for burnt oil smell. Hit the gas...see any white smoke? Open your radiator cap after running and smell for exhaust... If all is well then you have a normal running toyota corolla. These cars are champs. They just tend to burn a Lil oil here and there.

Thick white smoke that smells like burned rubber comes out the rear of the car continuously, but functions normal.....

could be oil that has built up in the exhaust, check the engine oil and see if its up to the correct level top up if required and keep a check on it, it may also be useing to much fuel if its diesel as excess fuel burnt shows up as white smoke

White smoke from BMW 740i exhaust

white were? the exhaust tip, or other spot, long pipe, name spot?
white, is steam or OIL.
oil smells like burnt oil and takes for ever to dispate
steam is water, and smells , sweet due to 50% glycol inside.
and goes away fast.
but all Gas engines make water at all the time running as a by product of combustion and for sure on cold days, some times full time cold
due to climate effects.
does your neighbors car smoke at same time, (look)
bingo , dew point.

all gas engine smoke cold started, (steam)

so first find out what it is,
take the dip stick out of a hot engine. stalled, drip it on the exhaust
see that smoke ,smell it? that is burning oil
now you know what you have, steam or oil. smoke.

When my engine is ticking over and then i put the accelerate down white smoke comes outand theres a smell is it my turbo thats away

hi.
white smoke would normally mean water is being burn in the cylinder. if it is a sweet, sugary smell then the head gasket is almost certainly blown.
greyish smoke with an burnt oily smell would point towards the turbo oil seals being the problem.

either way, this should be checked properly and quickly by a specialist to find exactly what the problem is. if either of these problems are left to develop, it could result in serious engine damage, and costly repairs. if sorted soon enough, it could save you a lot of money.

hope this helps.

Smokes at idle, not while driving.

you have hit the nail on the head ,starting a cold engine and just leaving it to idle takes a while to warm up ,but driving it straight away which is what you should do get the engine warm quicker ,also reduces your carbon footprint. When the engine is cold it burns oil till the correct clearance and tolerances are reached .

White smoke and the smell of burning rubber. I have had lots maintenance of work done to my car. I was starting to notice and smell burn oil. I had a small valve cover leak so I just had the whole...

Bradley,
You have stated two problems. Coming to second first. Smell of burning rubber. in the car rubber is only at two places where it can burn, The tyres, unlikely as you have not commented upon your driving habits. Some people like to rev the engine so much before take off that the tyres go burning for the first few hundred meters. And then there is rubber on the wires and cables. You have to check the wires for any heat while the engine is running.
Coming to the first now. White smoke is generally of unburnt fiel and not oil. Oil alwayd give black smoke and that is the indication you get when the exhaust is giving black smoke. That means that the engine is consuming oil. if it is white then that indicates that the engine is cold and burning more gas/diesel. Is your a diesel vehicle?? But as you say it from under the hood. And that too behind the engine block. May be that the gasket is leaking from somewhere. If you could check the engine oil level for a few days early in the morning before starting the engine. If the level drops and the exhaust tail pipe does not blacken your finger when you rub it in it would mean that the oil is being burnt. Now what I suggest is that with the engine running and hand brakes on, go under the car with hood open and try to locate the source of the smoke. I am sure you would be able to locate it.
Then we talk again.
