Most common cause of stalling for Lincolns in that era is the TPS (Throttle Position Sensor). It regulates fuel mixture, idle speed etc. A bad TPS will usually act up in one of two ways:
As far as valve cover oil leak, it's a problem that should be addressed to keep oil from fouling your spark plugs but highly unlikely to be the cause of your stalling problem. Hope this answers your question. All the best.

the first thing that i would replace is the O2 sensors. along with the fuel filter. then i would replace is the maf and/or map sensor. and/or vacuum leaks, pcv, remove the upper intake manifold and inspect all of the passage ways. if they are dirty, build up of carbon or oily residue that could be your biggest problem. i suspect your emission system is clogged up or blocked. that will throw off the computer.

Very common problem is about a dime size hole wearing in the rubber elbow on the PCV valve located on the driver side rear of the intake manifold.
