SOURCE: Mazda etude alternator genarting excessive heat

1st off you would give everything a good visual examination. Look for loose alternator belt. Also look for wires that could have become disconnected or cut that leads to the alternator.

Then you would hook up a volt meter to the battery cables and check the voltage.
After this you would start the engine and recheck the voltage. The voltage on a charged battery should read around 12.5 volts. While the engine is running turn on a few accesories and speed up the idle a little the voltage should read around 14.5 volts.

If the voltage does not increase suspect either a faulty alternator or regulator.

SOURCE: Problem with Altenator belts Etude

the problem is not the altenator. you should have a idler pully and a self adjusting idler tensioner. if thes e go bad the bearings tend to seize up and break belts i would check these first chance you get the tensioner should be spring like and be hard to move back and forth the pulley part of it should spin freely with out makeing a noise. please rate this

SOURCE: My 2000 Mazda Etude 1.6AC tappets are ver noisy.

If it is the tappets then, get yourself a good flushing oil follow instructions, then get yourself some 0/40 mobil 1 oil and changew the oil, if the tappets are still nosiy, then you got lots of money to pay out sorry but they are hydraulic and cost and arm and a leg to do thats if it is the tappets.

A flush, and a change of oil and filter (only use a genuine Mazda one) normally does the trick. Replacement is expensive, but I have read of people taking them out and cleaning them.

They work like two tin cans, open at one end.. one just slightly larger and sliding over the other so you have a sealed unit. At one end is a one way valve, just a small hole with a sprung loaded ball bearing to seal it. any dirt in there, and the valve won't seal, and the HLA won't pump up properly. this gives enough clearence to make the telltale ticking noise.

Keep us updated.

Hi i hve a mazda etude 2002 model it doesn't start it is flashing a mobalizer light no spark and it's hve a battery light on dash no hazard no indicater

Hey. If you have the immobiliser light on then the car will not start. Have you dropped your key recently? The tiny chip inside may be broken or missing. Can you try your spare key?
If not you should get a local mechanic who has a diagnostic scanner to check your ignition / immobiliser systems and give you accurate advise.
Do not guess or listen to people who don't know, it will cost so much more time / money
