hey, thanx for the reply, found the data connector, no probs. what does i do now.

  • Anonymous May 11, 2010

You can erase faults from the ecu without a tester, but you need to find the data connector, its usualy a yellow connector. It will be either a 2 pin or a 3/5 pin . It can be in 1 of 3 locations. Under the dash, under the center console to the front on the drivers side or under the passenger side of the dash.

Once you find it , let me know and i will tell you how to clear the codes and lamp.

Or take it to the local Honda dealer, he will plug in the tester and rest it, which is a lot quicker. He will not mess up the rest of the settings of the ECU.

    Hope this helps

Fix airbag warning light which stays on

Airbag Service Reset Tools

Find the fuse panel cover in the foot well on the driver's side of the vehicle. Pull down on it to open it.
Find a yellow connector inside the fuse panel. Pull out this connector. This is the airbag power connector, also called the SRS power connector.
Insert one end of the paperclip into one terminal of the SRS power connector and insert the other end of the paperclip into the other terminal.
Put the key into the ignition and turn on the vehicle, making sure you don't start the engine. The paperclip shorts out the SRS light, thus resetting and turning it off. Plug the SRS power connector back into the fuse panel. Put the cover back on the fuse panel and shut off the vehicle.
Wait a couple of minutes, then turn the engine on. Look on the instrument panel to ensure that the SRS light has turned off. Turn off the engine and remove the keys from the vehicle.

Reset SRS indicator light

Unfortunately, the only way you can clear codes on a post 1996 car is to have a scanner. You can either get the error cleared at a local shop where most of the time they will do it for free. If not, you should be able to buy a hand scanner from a local parts store like NAPA. Unfortunately, the latter solution is pricey.

Srs light stays on on my Honda civic

The most likely possibility is the connector for the airbag is not on securely. Check the connector first. But if the connector is connected properly then you will have to get the error codes to locate the exact problem for SRS light ON.
There is a way to pull the codes from the SRS control unit without a scan tool.
1. Turn the ignition switch OFF , and wait for ten seconds. Then connect the SCS service connector to the service check connector (2P). If you do not wait ten seconds, the SRS unit will not be completely reset and will not output DTCs.
2. Turn the ignition switch ON (II). The SRS indicator light comes on for about six seconds and goes off. Then it will indicate the DTC:
· The DTC consists of a main code and a sub-code.
· Including the most recent problem, up to three different malfunctions can be indicated.
· In case of a continuous failure, the DTC will be indicated repeatedly.
· In case of an intermittent failure, the SRS indicator light will indicate the DTC one time, and then it will stay on.
· If both a continuous and an intermittent failure occur, both DTCs will be indicated as continuous failures.
· In case the system is normal (no DTC), the SRS indicator light will stay on.
3. Read the DTC.
4. Turn the ignition switch OFF, and wait for ten seconds. Then disconnect the SCS service connector from the service check connector (2P).
The SCS Service Tool is nothing more than a jumper wire.
Thanks. you can rate this solution and show your appreciation.

SRS dash light has come on and stays on , honda odyssey 2000 model, hope someone can help me !! Cheers Emma

SRS stands for supplemental restraint system (airbags). Have your car hooked up to a diagnostic computer at a dealer or good repair shop. They will tell you if your problem is with the warning system or the restraint system itself. Do not ignore this warning. And good luck with it.

The SRS light on my 2000 Honda accord went on, what does it mean.

The SRS (Supplemental Restraint System) means that something in you airbag or seatbelt sensor has triggered the error. The system will not accidentally deflate the airbags but may not go off if in the case of an accident. Although some people say you can reset the system by jumping wires or something in the fuse box, *Do Not Do This*. This will and can damage the setup program in the computer, making it impossible to repair, and could damage the system entirely. Take it to the dealer to reset the system.
