I can hear the fuel pump running. I also put a new battery in the vehicle. it only seems to start (every once in a while) if you turn the key, and release it immediately, 5 or 6 times.I am at my wits end trying to troubleshoot this suv, and my wallet is getting thin.
Fuel pressure regulator probabaly flooding it when you turn the key forward it primes but the regulator just dumps to much fuel into the cylinders flooding the plugs pull a plug out after you try starting it if it dont start and see if there full of gas
CHECK HOW MUCH FUEL PRESSURE IS GETTING TO THE INJECTORS SOUNDS LIKE THERE MAY NOT BE ENOUGH TO MAKE THE INJECTORS FUNCTION PROPERLY, THIS CAN BE CAUSED BY THE PUMP OR FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR, IF ITS THE PUMP MAY BE CAUSED BY DAMAGE TO THE IMPELLER ON THE PUMP, THAT MEANS YOU WOULD HEAR THE PUMP BUT IT WOULD NOT BE GETTING ENOUGH PRESSURE TO THE INJECTORS.

sounds like youve really done your home work all that comes to mind now is try a cam posistion sensor this would keep your car from starting as well if that is good you can aslo try a crank sensor. you will get all of the readings that you are getting and these sensors can still be bad.

My truck did this after I replaced the fuel pump. Turned out to Fuel Pressure Regulator. It would crank and crank but never start. It's located underneath the black plastic manifold on the side of the injectors.

check your coils if you pull a plug and put it back into the wire, turn over to see if spark, if not coils or dis. module. hope this helps you, thanks robert b.
