my car is turning over but wont start

  • Anonymous Mar 08, 2009

I filled the car up, drove maybe 30 feet, stopped at stop sign and it just died. The engine will turn over, but won't start. And, when I started it up at the pump after fill-up it showed full tank, now the gauge doesn't even register. Shows "No bus" in odometer window when trying to start.

There is no fuel cut off switch only a fuel pump relay & ASD (automatic shut down) relay. What are you trying to find or fix?

Its your PCM that's fine bad. Get one from your local wrecking yard but make sure donor vehicle has the same drivetrain as the one receiving the PCM. That way it will not be necessary to have it flashes or programmed. If you have a 5.2l with 4x4 then make sure you get one from a Durango with a 5.2l and 4wheel drive. The PCM is located under the hood on the passenger or right side just behind the air. filter box. That'll fix the issue you are having.

Comment added to info above. I have checked the fuel pump relay and ASD relay, got new ones, still won't start or register gas gauge as full.

The solution #1 is actually added info to "1 Other User Has The Same Problem." For clarification - I replaced the fuell pump relay and ASD relay but the car still won't start or register gas gauge as full.

99 2.2 swap with a 98 4300 vortec fuel pump not kicking on

Some 2.2s had a oil pressure switch in the fuel pressure relay circuit that would cut fuel if the oil pressure went low, You may be able to swap the switches.

Where is the fuel pump reset switch on a 99 DODGE DURANGO

There is not a reset switch. Ford had them. If you are getting power back to the pump and can not hear it prime when you first turn key on more then likely you have a bad fuel pump.

99 dodge durango

Could be a problem in the ignition circuit. Check or test coil and ignition module-one of them may be shutting down or shorting out when they get hot.
Verify by checking for spark at a plug wire immediately after it shuts off: if no spark, it is an ignition problem. Besides the coil and ignition module, other possibilities are the crank position sensor, cam position sensor, ecu, the ASD relay (automatic shuit down relay-it's in the power distribution box under hood). If that relay fails, all power is cut to coil and fuel injectors, and maybe the fuel pump also.
Good luck.

How many fuel filters does a 99 dodge durango have and where are they located at?

It has one and it is part of the fuel pump module assembly located in the fuel tank. It is not serviceable unless the fuel pump module is replaced.

I have a 99 Dodge Durango 5.9 that is not getting spark or fuel

The control module in the distributor that signals the coil to fire also signals the fuel pump to operate replace should cost around $50

Durango cuts off while driving

hi, sounds to me that either the fuel pump is going out or the fuel pump relay is acting up. the cheapest way to check the relay first by simply swaping the relay with another relay in the power distribution box under the hood (swap it with the A/C relay)
