I want to remove my inner tie rod on my 2005 Honda Accord EX sedan 2.4L without removing the rack to do it. There are tools I can purchase made to help you accomplish that ranging from down right cheap to way too expensive for my purposes. I was wondering what size hex I was going to need in order to be able to decide on more of a specific size tool for the job instead of the more expensive universal tool. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

There is a special tool and you can find it at most parts stores. It is oversized a bit and you slip it over the tie rod. Then you turn in the screw on the side to tighten it on the flats. The tool will have an opening at the end to accept a 3/8 or 1/2 ratchet, depending on the tool.

easy there is a screw on both sides were bumper and fender meet just pop back fender liner its a phillips head. Then pop hood remove clips on black trim infont of radiator. Underside where bumper goes under car remove those clips and 10mm bolts after all is removed bumper just pulls off ...... may have to give it a hard **** a few times but it will come off. Should only take 15-20min to remove if its your first time

Hi, the bit is called a Torx Bit or a star bit. Don't get the type for a screwdriver, get the socket that would go on a ratchet, you'll need to put an extension on it of course to get in there. Push hard or it will strip. Give Honda a call and ask them what size it is for your car for sure, might be a 6mm or you can just buy a metric Torx Bit Set. Separately they are $3.99 at Autozone. Not sure how much the kit is. Good luck.

Yes, replace the rack. Estimate, no way anyone can tell you this. Shop around and get quotes on racks and fitting if you do not want to undertake this yourself.. Make sure you have a wheel alignment after the new rack is installed if the workshop does not do this or if you replace the rack yourself..
