HI..
On a problem with oil pressure sensor leaking.
99% you need to replace the sensor with a new one.
Because if you can see the leak is not for the tread or gasket of the sensor.
If you can disconnect the the wire from the sensor.
and try to start you will see the leak coming from inside on the plastic, where the pins. of the sensor.

OK.. I hope this information work for you.
I work on Cars everyday.
Thank you fo use fixya.

Oil gauge fluctuating in 1981 chevy 350

Could be a bad gauge or a bad sending unit. Or even engine wear if it goes way down at idle and then back up when RPMs increase.

I have a 1976 buick regal 350 engine and the oil light comes on when the engine gets hot and it is at an idle. when you give it gas the light goes out. could this be the oil sending unit and if so where is...

it might be the sending unit, is it a buick 350 or a chevy. 350? if a buick engine the sinding unit should be on the side of the timing cover if a chevy 350 next to the dist.

remove the oil sinding unit and install a manuel gauge and see just what the oil pressure is if below 10 psi at hot idle replace the bearings and oil pump in the engine. if this is a chevy 350 make sure you replace the camshaft bearings this is were we use to see the gratest oil pressure loss.

98 chevy 1500 starts and then shuts right off have replaced fuel pump and filter ,crank sensor, cam sensor ,oil sen. coil, ign.mod and PCM

On some chevys the oil pressure sending unit closes the circuit to continue the fuel pump to run after start. In the event of a wreck ,the car stops running thus no oil pressure thus turns off power to the fuel pump .A safety to help prevent fires. When you first start the car, the computer turns on the fuel pump for about 20 seconds just enough time to start and allow the oil pressure sending unit to close the circuit to allow it to continue running. when the car car has NO oil pressure or the sending unit fails ,it will start then shut down..as many times as you try to start. replace the oil pressure sending unit and secure a good conection. 92 dodge ram 350 presure

first you want to check to see if there is the correct amount of oil in the engine. then you need to check to see if the oil is getting to the top of the motor. you can do this by looking into the valve cover from the oil filler or the vent. If your not getting oil to the top of the motor you need to replace the oil pump. if you do have oil in the motor and its getting to the top of the motor then you need to check the oil sending unit wire if its good and tight then I would replace the sending unit.
