Gearbox fault my mercedes ml 350 is having problems with gearbox there is no reverse and its driving in park any ideas

It is a Mercedes, you need the dealership, an auto electrician or an Auto locksmith / Alarm installer. It is the most electrically over-engineered brand on the market. some are PIN Locked so that only registered technicians can reset based on VIN Number.

Several MB models have had tail light recalls due to bulb socket issues and overheating wire connections. It's also possible that the wrong replacement bulbs were inserted at some point. If you mean the back-up (reverse) lights are staying on, that could be due to faulty wiring or a defective backup switch on the transmission gear selector.

suspect a fault with the gearbox computer ,but i have no product knowledge as to where this is located

Hi Cindy, As the engine check light is coming it is indicating a problem. Have a diagnostic scan carried out and let your technician determine the actual fault. It could be something to do with the state of engine tune or a defective speed sensor, but may also be a problem with the gearbox. Regards John

have you checked for power to the bulb holder?

check your gearbox oil level sound like gearbox is in limp mode and may need a service

• you need a Brake safety switch replaced.This is located behind you brake pedal.it's a common problem. The warning lights will reset after a few engine starts.

check the fuse, bulb, if they r ok it will be the reverse light switch located on the gearbox
