no none whatsoever. It just doesnt start. Oil pan heater is not working battery blanket is working, trickle charged working-just wont start in cold weather but starts fine when temp reaches 0. It will also start if i can get it into a warm place leave it overnight and then boost it. It wont take another car or battery boost unless warm and towing to somewhere is expensive

Most the time they don't. unless you said to. i live in Alaska, and when people buy new vehicles they say they can't put them in. if your not familar with cars than you should have it professionally done. sometimes it can be a pest. on the side of your engine block you should see an indent a little bit bigger than 50cent piece USD. it is a plug. you have to purchase the block heater (which is just an element) remove the plug and VERY quickly put the heater back in. the block heater keeps the coolant warm and is through the coolant duct. all the coolant will immediatly pore out. if it is installed wrong you will have a coolant leak. you should have it done professionally done to avoid future problems

you can go to any auto shop and have them order you one. unless they got one in stock. is there any symptoms the car is demonstrating while driving or idling?

Vw bora tdi 115bhp hard to start in cold weather. I have power going to the heater plugs it is like the diesel is running back?

This may be caused by a retarded injector pump timing. You should have this checked. It's not something you can do at home it involves many precision tools. Thank you, Dana

Car is in minneapolis right now. So...cold it won't start...(so my daughter says).....But I am wanting to put a new battery in so that the car can work harder to turn over. Battery is low. How do I replace...

Your Jetta has a block heater available. It plugs in and keeps the block warm, making it easier to start. Below is a link with step by step instructions for battery replacement.

2000 Jetta Tdi Cold start

I do believe soem 2000 Jetta TDI's came with block heaters. Normally a heater of this type you plug in is to keep the oil warm. This will not keep the block very warm and will not decrease the amount of time it takes to heat up.

If you want the car and the heater to get warmer quicker, you should invest in a "Zerostart coolant heater". There are company's that sell these with all of the hoses, bolts, and clamps needed for a quick installation. If you can change brake pads, you can install this.

I currently have this installed on my TDI and have it plugged into a timer. It comes on about 2 hours before I leave in the morning. It electrically heats the coolant and thermosiphons the coolant through the block. I am now able to immediately begin defrosting the windshield at start up.
