It seems to be coming from the windshield area. Sometimes we hear it on the right side then other times from the middle of the windshield. At
other times it seems to be right ahead of the driver in the instrament panel. This is on an 05 Montana.
The strangest thing is that it only does it it the cold or windy weather. the windshield base down by the wipers has been resealed all around the base. We still hear it. I bought it used in June 07 and did not hear the noise until late Oct. 07. Even on cold windy days it may not make the noise, it comes and goes. It does not make the noise at lower speeds, only above 50. It's a hit and miss kind of thing. ?????????
Put wide tape on different areas of the windshield edge as a test to see if the noise changes.Then you may know where the noise originates and can correct the noise.
Just by chance,it is a wind noise? and not a front wheel bearing going bad?which is common on these vehicles and can create a humming at different speeds.Next time when the hum shows up turn the steering wheel slightly left and right at road speed and if you can change the hum,it's 99% a wheel bearing.

it seems that you are having connecting issues. under the dash are lots of connectors and through vibration the often times wiggle loose. also they get a fair amount of heat exposure from the climate control. this makes them brittle and they tend to short out. looking under the dash and checking fuses and relays would be the first step in isolating the problem. please rate this solution thanks and good luck.

This has happened a couple of times on my 1999 Pontiac Montana. Here's what I did to fix. Open the hood. Remove the shield over the the wiper cam mechanism on the passengers side. This is easy to access. Road salts and other dust and dirt gets in there and causes the sticking problem. Spray WD-40 in between the parts. Get in there with that little red spray straw and saturate it good, flush junk out. Get in the car and try the wipers. If I remember, you might have to manually place that little knob or lever on top of the cam in the opposite position to get it to resync, but try it first. Be sure the wipers are off when you're spraying the WD-40 so you don't injur your hands. I've had to do this twice and it worked both times.

If you have stock sized tires on it.. check the brakes.. also look for loose fender skirting near the wheel as a helper turns the wheel maxxed out to the right.. Lemmie know, Thanx

On top of the window motor there is a timing cam -- there is a little tab on the bottom that is most likely broken or bent. You need to replace the cam.

Dear dealt_soul we can hear the humming when the heat is on very low or not on at all. Makes no difference if vent is turned to vent coming in or vent coming in and also to floor
Can you hear it when it is very cold and you have the heat on full blast?
