1990 honda accord ticking and knocking, motor running rough

I put a knew battery in, a new air filter, and new spark plugs. The oil level is fine, there is a knocking, loud ticking noise coming from the motor. The engine runs rough and shakes a bit. I think I do need a new front, center motor mount, but that's not the issue. Something inside the motor isn't working correctly.

SOURCE: Check Engine Light - 2000 Honda Accord

it could be that the air filter housing is worn and thats why they said you needed a new one what that means is that you are getting to much air into the engine and will cause check engine light to come on i would replace that and then see if it goes off and then if not go to a auto zone and they check the light and see what it is and then go from there

SOURCE: loud knocking oil in the spark plugs

Do a wet/dry compression test and determine if it's the piston rings or the valve seals.

SOURCE: 1996 Honda Accord Rough Idle Even After tune up

Perform a valve clearance inspection and adjust if necessary. Tight or sticking valves will cause a misfire or rough running concern. Note: Perform valve adjustment when the engine is stone cold. 4cyl: INT 0.26mm EXH: 0.30mm (V6 engine are hydraulic and no adjust necessary.) Also check for a sticking or stuck open EGR valve. For diagnostic purposes only: Remove the EGR valve. Place a business card over the EGR passage and bolt the EGR valve back on. This plugs the EGR ports and if the misfire goes away the EGR valve is partially stuck open and is defective.
Check for low fuel pressure. Check for low compression. Check cam timing. Check for a weak ignition coil. Also don't over look the possibility of worn or broken engine mounts which cause excessive engine movement and engine vibration. -hope this helps

SOURCE: Right when car warms up

Could very well be the main relay, limiting power to all the electronics in your car, causing the problems you've mentioned. Have it repaired or replaced.

Low power and acceleration on 1990 honda accord

Sounds like a bad motor bearing. Not good news. With all spark plugs out and belts to alternator, power steering, air conditioner, etc., loose, rotate the motor by hand to see if it's free.

I have a 90 accord lx/dx.I replaced fuel filter, air filter and now the car won't stay running and once it does start after running it about 2 blocks if you let off the accelerator it putters like...

Have your engine scoped out by a reputable service shop. Was it running better before you replaced those items? Have you done a tune up lately? Did you buy bad gas? Are your fuel injectors clean? Is the fuel pump going out on you? Are your spark plugs and spark plug wires good? Are their any sensors that may need replacing? I have a 1990 Honda Accord and the car just wants to keep taking my money. It needs too much love to keep any more.

2002 honda accord car not starting or running rough when

Engine needs two things spark and fuel to run. both will cause problem your having. easiest thing to try is starting fluid spray into air intake to motor by opening air filter box. someone spray and someone start or run car - if performace changes possibly the fuel pump is going bad. If nothing improves you can look for spark problems which can be plugs or wires or ignition module(s)

Oil inside cylinders

oil inside the cylinders happens two ways...bad or worn piston rings or bad valve seals.  If you do a compression test this will tell you what the problem is.  when you remove your oil filler cap with the motor running is there a lot of pressure coming from inside the engine?  If there is, as I'm suspecting you are sadly suffering from a worn out engine.

1990 Honda Accord DX 5 speed no power/2 cylinders not firing?

ok.....as far as the oil on them it is possible it is only the spark plug tube seals located on the inside of the valve cover,in fact if you can remember when you took the old plug wires off the boots of a couple propably had oil on them.now as far as the real problem I would recommend checking the timing belt it is possible it jumped time, its pretty simple just remove the valve cover(gonna replace the seals anyways)and top timing cover.roll the engine around and look for the cam and crank marks.if you need anymore suggestions or help let me know have a good day DB

1990 5 speed Honda Accord DX 2 cylinders wont fire

Could be head gasket or piston rings. Piston ring issues will smoke under load or when revving the engine.

Do a compression test.
