Have you checked your fuses ? There is a 10 amp fuse in the fuse panel under the hood of the vehcile in the engine compartment. Below is a fuse layout diagrm for that fuse panel. I have marked the fuse you want to check if you haven't already (# 26). If the fuse is good make sure you are getting power at the main big wire attched to the alternator. You should have the same amout of power at that connector at the alternator as you do in the battery itself. That is a direct wire going to the battery but it does have a fuse link in that wire so if no battery power there you will need to locate that fuse link and replace it. Sorry I don't have a picture of the location of the fuse link. Hope it's just a simple fuse or fuse link and I hope I was able to help....

SOURCE: put new alternator on getting fire to charge light

you may need to go back and get another alternator cause this one sounds as if it has a bad voltage regulator in it also give these websites a try www.autozone.com and www.alldatadiy.com also checkout your drivebelt if the car has over 40,000 miles on it you may want to change it also wish you the best of luck Michigan Man.

My first thought was voltage regulator, but your new alternator (with integral voltage regulator) eliminated that - #2 on the list is : incorrectly routed, missing, or worn-out (slipping) drive belt.
The alternator in your car is driven by the "Drive belt," meaning that its powered by the engine
(via power applied to drive belt by the crankshaft pulley).
If your drive belt squeals loudly when you step on the gas, then its slipping badly.
You would need to tension it properly, or apply "Belt Conditioner" spray to the belt, or possibly replace the belt entirely.

Sounds like you need to test voltage coming out of the alternator. Look for 12-14.1 volts using a multi meter. If that is ok then you have an ecu problem

Battery light on ! alternator isn't charging . Test the alternator electrical circuits .Main cable on the back of the alt. should have B+ voltage .Pin # 3 at the connector on the alt. should have B + voltage - fuse F10 10amp under hood fuse box supply's B+ to pin #3 . Pin's 1 & 2 at the connector go to the PCM - engine computer . This is a computer controlled charging system .

The Battery CCA Rating is to turn over the starter

CCA--Cold Cranking Amps
That is at zero degrees
Total cranking amps is at 32 degrees

The car runs off the alternator
It puts out over 14 volts

The 12 volt battery is 6 cells @1.2 v each = 13.2 v

You need 12.6 volts to test a car or you charge it first

You need over 13 volts to charge a battery, thus the alternator

The only other job the battery has is a stabilizer in the electrical
circuit

So you need to have the charging system diagnosed as the
various light you have on should be off when engine first starts

Battery light indicates alternator failure. If you have a voltmeter, check voltage at battery with engine running. Should be at least 14 volts. If no voltmeter, remove alternator and take it to parts store for testing.
If the alternator is bad and that is your only problem, the truck should jump start, but it will not go far unless the battery is charged. OK?

Battery light flickers

I would have the charging system tested. If the battery test bad check your warranty, many major brands have a free replacement period. The red battery light coming on when the engine is running often means the alternator is not putting out enough volts.
