Well the code is another problem. Remove the coolant overflow bottle and clean it out good with hot water and some soap you should notice that there is a sensor in side of it and on some older cars over time they get gumed up and wont read right try this first if it wont work you will have to buy a new one.

The low coolant sensor should be located in the passenger side radiator tank, You need to take it out and clean the sludge off of it for it to work right. Or you can just unplug it and forget about it, the light will go out and it won't cause any problems.

The sensor should be easy to find, check it's connection. A Chilton book will have the schematic for your car, and you can track the circuit for the sensor.

SOURCE: Low coolant sensor on a 1998 buick

The coolant sensor should be located near where the upper radiator hose is attached to the engine and has a wire connector on it with 2 wires. It's the only sensor near there. Then there's the sensor that'll be attached to your reservoir tank somewhere along the firewall

SOURCE: buick regal 92 3.8L Horrible fuel mileage

Sounds like you might have an oxygen sensor problem. Your catalytic converter(s) maybe defective or dirty. That in turn can dirty up the oxygen sensor. A defective oxygen sensor will send faulty info to the computer, interpreting the fumes as cold (even when the engine warms up). That causes the computer to adjust the fuel mixture to very rich, giving you poor gas mileage and the fuel smell. Hope it helps.

I have a 1999 Buick Regal. I have installed a new thermostat but the low coolant light is still flashing. How can I get it off.

If the reservoir is full of coolant, and the light is on? It is very common for the low coolant sensor to stick. Try tapping on the reservoir, this will (sometimes) free up the float, turning out the light. Sometimes you have to tap pretty hard, don't break it, remember it's made of plastic :) Help this helps, TJ

I have a 1992 Buick Regal, and my coolant light was on the other day, and after I added some fluid to the overflow tank, it is still on. How do I add the coolant to the radiator itself? because I think...

3.1 liter?

If so the level sensor is in the reservoir. Sometimes the level gets stuck if the coolant gets low. Some gentle whacking of the reservoir with a rubber mallet is usually enough to get the light to turn out.

3.8 liter?

When the car is cold remove the radiator cap on the passenger side of the radiator. Add coolant until full.

Buick Regal problem-help!!!!!!!!

Have you done the basic maintenance. Spark plugs, oil change, ect.? As for the fans, if you have a/c one of them should only come on when your a/c is on. The other is regulated by a relay so when your car reaches a certain temp it kicks on.

My low coolant light is flickering on and off. I flushed the system today. No other symptoms. no overheating or leaks. this is on a 1995 Buick Regal Custom V6.

It could be that the low coolant sensor is just dirty. You should be able to follow a wire to the top part of your radiator, to the sensor, or it might be in the overflow tank, take it out and clean it, and see if that will do it, if not, replace it.
