you need to remove the inner door panel, this is done by removing the screws that hold it in places, ( sometimes under plastic caps, that cover the screw, and sometimes inside the door pull handle ( that hole you pull the door shut with ) also,, along the bottom and sides there are clips Just grab the bottom of the door and pull out on it, work your way along the bottom and up both sides, to get the panel off you need to lift it up off the window edge,, also, inside the door release lever there is probably a screw, once removed, you need to turn the handle slightly and feed it back through the hole, you can get the retaining cover around the edge of the handle, by slipping a flat head screw driver inside next to the hinged end of the handle , and pop it outwards towards you , that gets you in the door, a plastic water shield covers the inside of the door,, Just peel it out of the way ,, you'll see a hole that contains the door lock cylinder, the arms to it are held on with little plastic clips,, and they get very brittle,, pop those off, you will see the items, (either a screw or bolt) that hold the cylinder in place, remove that

1996 GMC Sierra Heater blower motor only works on high speed. How do you change resistor?

The blower motor resistor is located within a foot of the blower motor in the duct that the blower motor blows into. The resistor is actually cooled off by the blower motor blowing across it. It has a wire harness that connects it to motor & fan switch. It is held in place by 2-4 retaining screws. Disconnect wire harness, unscrew retaining screws then lift out. Reverse order to install.

Window slides down there is nothing supporting it from sliding down it is on the passenger side of vehicle, is it off track or is something broken do I need to buy brackets, or is there a diagram for a...

There are a few things that could be wrong; 1. Disconnected or broken regulator. 2. Broken plastic retention grommet. 3. Stripped regulator tape. A hands on diagnostic is really the only way to determine what went wrong. Are your windows power or manual? what is the vehicle? Do you have a repair manual? Are there side airbags to deal with? Do you have sufficient skill to disassemble the door to see what happened? Many door panels are not too difficult to disassemble, and almost all have push in retainers to hold the bottom and sides of the panel in place. Many require removing the door handle from the interior to remove the panel so you can see inside, and most have a plastic film on the inside of the door for keeping moisture out of the panel and passenger compartment. Remove the handle first, then make sure you find all retaining screws for the panel. Some may be along the bottom or on the sides of the door - you'll need to examine the panel fully to find all of the screws before you start pulling on the panel to release the push in retainers. Some screws may be hidden behind plastic push in caps that cover the screw heads, so if there's some round plug looking things on the panel you'll need to pop them out with a small flat blade screwdriver to get access to the screws. Many times, some of these retainers will break off instead of come out so you'll need to buy replacements before re-installing the panel once you have completed repairs. Hope this helps and thanks for using Fixya!!

How get replacement rear vent window into place? its a 1995 maxima passenger side rear vent window.have picked up a new one from salvage and fear if i force it, it may shatter.

The metal glass run between the vent & doorglass has a phillips screw at the top under the door weatherstrip. I usually remove that screw, with the doorglass down & glass run (felt) pulled down at the top just enough to allow the metal part to move as you force the ventglass into place. lube the vent gasket with silicone spray or any good wet lubricant and force the glass in, bottom 1st. If this makes you too anxious, remove the 10 mm attachment that retains the metal glass run at the lower end of the part. To get to it, you will have to remove the door panel. Good luck

Replacing the headlight bulbs on 2005 Ranger

Having just purchased a 2002 Ford Focus I found that the passenger side headlight had gone. Stumbled accross this thread and thought "looks like a pain".
Popped to Halfords and picked up a H1 bulb, went home and had a look under the bonnet.
Armed with just a screwdriver I managed to change the bulb within 10 mins. Flicked the headlight cover off using the screwdriver for a bit of leverage. Unpluged the headlight and flicked off the retaining clip. Removed the bulb.
Fitting was even easier - Put bulb in place, clip the retaining clip in place, plug in and replace cover.
Job done within 10 minutes with no prior experience of Fords.
Hope it helps
IMPORTANT!!! The retaining clip does NOT just flick off. Tried that and broke the plastic stop that holds the retainer clip and allows it to apply tension to the bulb! The retainer wire is held in place on the bottom by a screw and clip on the bottom and is locked into a plastic clip on top. To remove the wire, push the wire down and towards the passenger side of the car, it will dislodge and you can then lower it to remove the bulb. Once the bulb has been changed, you want to replace the wire the same way to protect the plastic clip. I don't know what I will do about the plastic clip now, the retaining wire has no tension and I'm afraid the bulb will not remain seated properly. However, knowing what I know now, I agree with the above answer: Done in 10 minutes without prior experience with Fords.
=== Just finished doing this. A small mirror and a flashlight make this job simple. It's very easy to do once you can see the top of the clip.
small mirror and flashlight are essential, look at the way the retaining wire seats before you unclip it. flat side of the bulb houseing sits at the bottom of the access hole. retaining wire clips bottom to top. I had a hard time with seating the new bulb and had to figure out the retaining wire clipped from bottom to top because I didn't look at it before I unclipped it. obviously fords designed this for ease of manufacter with very little regard to the average layman who would do the replacing.
