Stereo not shutting off

I have a 1998 Lexus GS 400 and all of a sudden the aftermarket radio will not turn off. I have to remove the face plate but it still drains the battery overnight. I didn't put the system in it. Is there anything I can check to fix this easily

not that I know of. The stereo will stay on all the time, even after alarm sets.

Yes, my truck has it where the power doesn't shut off immediately and the radio and interior lights don't go off for 25 seconds or I open the door. The problem I am having all of a sudden started 2 days ago. I was thinking it could be a bad relay or fuse.

Your door switch could be stuck. remove it, there will be a black rubber boot covering it and I think is held in by a 10mill. bolt. Remove it and clean it it sounds like it is stuck.

Radio stereo

Did you check the fuse? It may have a separate fuse then the AC and GPS. For some reason its broken I'd look online for a used car radio.

A freind of mines 1998 Lexus gs400 wont start,

The factory anti-theft system may not like the chip in the key you are using.
You may have to get a new key or have the system tested.

I just bought a 1998 Honda Accord V6 (EX?) My stereo system (stock,) face plate reads that the Radio, or CD, or Tape is playing whnever I engage either of them....However, there is no sound. What is the...

It may be that the previous owner had an aftermarket stereo in it and removed it when he sold the car. It probably did not get hooked back up correctly if this is the case. (Many Honda radios have 2 electrical connectors on the back of the radio. One usually supplies all the inputs (Power, ground, interior lamp feed, etc.) and the other is the outputs for the speakers.

1998 beetle radio buttons

The face plate buttons actually activate small buttons on a printed circuit board behind the face plate. When I removed the radio and then the face plate many small pieces of plastic fell from behind the face plate. These small plastic pieces align the face plate button to the printed circuit board buttons. My Beeetle is almost 10 1/2 years old so I imagine the plastic is just becoming brittle with age. I could not set the radio to FM, so I removed the face plate button and now slide a toothpick in the slot to toggle between FM1 & FM2. Not he best solution, but probably the most inexpensive one. I also made my on tool to remove the radio from a diagram found at: http://www.alientech.net/nbinfo/stereo.html
