Hello I have a 2000 GMC Sierra pick-up that I just recently got a gear job on. Ever since then my ABS and Brake lights come on together and stay on while driving and of course go out when I re-start the truck and then come on later again. Although at other times when I drive they just don't come on at all. Now I took it to a brake repair shop and they ran the ''abs'' diagnostic set on it which told me that it was a bad left front sensor. Well I've had it replaced and they still come on even after the mechanics told me that the sensor would take a few rotations to reset the system. Still nothing. What do I do?
HEY GUY ,,SORRY FOR CAPPS BUT OH WELL......MY 99 GMC DOES SAME THING...TRY TURNING KEY ,,,,LIKE YOUR GOING TO START IT BUT DONT GO FAR ENOUGH TO HIT STARTER....WHEN MESSAGE CENTER TURNS RED ,,BACK OFF...THAT WORKED FOR ME FOR 14 MONTHS ...NOW GETTING TO BE ALL THE TIME...I THINK ITS THE COMPUTER..HEARD LOTS OF MONEY..PCM ECM,,WHATEVER..ANY OTHER HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED ??? HOPE IT HELPS YOU FOR A WHILE...DO YOU STILL HAVE TRUCK ???
Have you by chance checked your fluid? If not, you may want to do that, it could show that you need brakes if it is low. If that doesn't do it, the mechanic may be right about a sensor, but just the wrong one. Hope that helps.

The rule of thumb is to start as far away from the master cylinder as poss. so it means you start at the right rear, left rear, right front, then at last left front. There is a little a little weep bolt on each calliper it needs to be un lossened when break is fully applyed then tighten weep bolt back up pump the breaks while weep bolt is still tight then hold brake pedal down to floor lossen weep bolt till a full steam of fluid comes out tighten bolt back up, now move on to the next break calliper and repeat this same proccess till you finished. Hope this works better than r/r l/r r/f l/f lol!!!!

Wheel speed sensors misadjusted, damaged , or metal shavings and other debree, since they are magnetic can give false readings from one of the wheel circuits. Over sized tires can give of false speed readings as well. there are many other causes including bad relay, control module, e.t.c. It is best to have the proper scan tool to diagnose an ABS problem

yo man, idk if this is exactly what your problem is but my 1991 gmc sierra was doing the same fuckin thing and ****, and i took it to the gm dealer and had them look at it and my connectors and my ignition switchs were fried, also my truck was having a problem shitfing once those went but i also had that problem, perhaps yours is somehwta liek that as well... hope i could help

its a low speed abs activation the problem is in the front sensors they need to be cleaned or replaced they [or one] probably has some corrosion on the sensor --[the 99 chevy tahoes had a limited recall over this issue and the fix was to remove and clean the abs sensor or if to corroded replace ] this problem doesnt set off an abs code or trouble light also sometimes the abs will activate by itself at under 4 mph without even touching brake

the most common cause is wheel speed sensor or sensor wiring not reading proper wheel speed.it is also possible the reluctor wheel inside front bearing is clogged with rust and debris and unable to send magnetic pulse. This can be tested with scanner to determine wheel in question.ohm meter can be used to test sensor and reluctor pulse.

No I didn't suspect that it was the abs control module due to me not losing my brakes at all (going out while driving). As you probably know, the sensor comes with the new wire on it. I don't have much experience as far as the brakes go, just really tired of these damn lights being on. Have any more advice?

I own a 2001 GMC Sierra 1500 HD My ABS and brake light come on while driving I notice it more when the weather is warm. I also notice that I lose the ABS brake system ,I still have good brakes but they will lock up instead of pulse. Any help would be appreciated,Thanks Kevan H.
take it to the chevy/GMC dealer.
did u ever think the sensor wiring is defective or the ABS control module, the code only indicates a problem with the signal, it does not mean the sensor is causing the problem on that there is a circuit problem.
