1995 town car. The moon roof is stuck in the vent position

In addition the switch is missing! I purchased a switch online that hasn't arrived as yet. I've removed the motor via the access panel in the rear seat. When the switch arrives I intend to plug it into the wiring harness and try the switch to discover if the motor will run. In anticipation, what to do if the switch or motor isn't the problem? What I would love to have is a tutorial on how to remove the entire moon roof assembly. Is there an aftermarket manually operated moon roof with which I can replace this expensive-to-repair white elephant, easily? I've found a repair kit online, but it's $119.00 plus shipping and looks like it should only sell for about $35 or $40. I just wnat the roof closed, at this time. The Dealership has told me that for $200.00 they can close the roof for me. I just don't see how this would be possible without the mechanism functioning. Am I missing sonething here?

I need to reprogram my 2004 ford focus sunroof, i believe that info is in the owner's manual

  1. 1. Tilt the moon roof into the vent position as much as possible and press on the front portion of the control.
  2. 2. Now release the switch.
  3. 3. Now press and hold that same switch again for 30 seconds or until the moon roof begins to move.
  4. 4. Now release the switch ans immediately press and hold the switch agaon.
  5. 5. Now the moon roof should close then open then close again.
  6. 6. You MUST wait until the moon roof has closed that second time before releasing the switch of the process will be a failure and you will have to start again.

Sunroof stuck open, think the switch maybe bad

I have same problem. Below are a couple of suggestions from LincolnOnLine.com on how to close the sunroof manually. The first relates to a '93 and I'm not sure about the second. Use this info at your own risk. If you get a better answer, PLEASE POST IT HERE FOR ME. Thanks. Mort

Here is the text from my 93 Manual. There is an access panel in the rear centre of the headliner if it is the same as my 93.

Manual Operation

To close the sliding panel manually, remove the roof access hole trim panel located at the rear of the moon roof assembly. Remove the motor and bracket assembly as outlined to expose the splined shaft of the moon roof drive gear box. Using a typical corporate door window regulator crank handle properly set on the splined shaft, crank the moon roof panel closed.

Motor

CAUTION:
It is recommended that the battery ground cable be disconnected when removing or installing the moon roof motor assembly.

Removal and Installation

1. Operate glass panel until rear of glass panel is flush with sheet metal surface.

2. Remove motor access cover.

3. Remove two motor retaining screws.

4. Lower motor away from splined motor gear and disconnect electrical connector.

5. To install, reverse Removal procedure and synchronize motor as outlined under Adjustments.

I have had my 04 Kia Sorento for 5 days & the sunroof is nuts!!!

According to the 2003 owner's manual (2004 should be similar) there is a specific procedure for calibrating the moon-roof's controller. The electronic controller may have lost its calibration settings due to an electrical glitch or disconnected battery.

Look up he exact procedure in your owner's manual as it may vary between different mdel years or OEM moon-roof suppliers.
