It's most likely your heater core that is causing the problem it could be leaking either from the core it's self causing anti freeze to get into your vents or from one of the hoses leading to it.....I am assuming that when your heat is on there is a dampness in the air this is what is causing the windows to fog up.
I had the same thing happen with mine. It would really only work on the vent or defrost. It is the motor that changes the doors from defrost,vent and floor the grease dried out. So I cleaned it up and greased it up and now works like a charm ! The heat dries them out. I looked for a new one and couldn't find any, just to let you know
Usually this is a problem with the blend doors under the dash. You either have a vac leak, a dead motor, or a faulty door. The control opens and closes the doors to direct air thru the heater core and evaporator core along with directing air thru the vents. When a problem occurs, the default position is the defrost vents to make sure the windshield remains clear. You can do an internet search for "repair durango blend door" for more info.
it sounds like the switch lever for the vents, floor and defrost is not switching the vent door that goes to the defroster hose. You need to pull the switch consol out loose from the dash and follow the cable for the defrost that goes to the hose for the defrost. You might also have a broke switch that won't pull the cable enough to open the air for the defrost hose.
you may have abad slector door acuator.which is alittle motor bolted on the heater box.It move a door in box to direct air flow to right location.hope this helps.
From what I hear it is a vacuum line issue. Mine is doing the exact same thing. So, I am going to get a diagram and try checking the vacuum lines to see if any are loose or tore
I go under the dash and feel the air flowing out the floor and it is coming out of the defrost, also. I noticed under the drivers side today that air is flowing and there seems to be a gap in between a part under there. There was some material stuff I saw around the edge of it that sticky brown stuff and it sometimes before came out my vents all the time. Anyways, not sure if my air is just not sealed good to blow out the vents but it is something that happened not long ago and we've not done anything under our dash area.
