SOURCE: Mercedes Benz C180 Fault Message Brake Assist.Visit Workshop BAS

Hi there

BAS is the Brake Assist System and if there is a malfunction it would only come into play in an Emergency stop while applying full pressure. BAS applies full braking force because people tend to lighten up their pressure on the pedal in these situations. I would suggest that the best thing to do is go to a Workshop or Service Center and have it checked out. Please remember to put a good rating on my profile.

Kind regards
Dustin Ellse

that appears to be a camshaft position sensor performance code. you can start by checking to see if the sensor is working properly, re-check and make sure that the harness is ok by checking the resistance through the harness if all looks well there make sure the computer has the latest software on it by having it scanned at your local dealer. also you can check the reluctor wheel on the camshaft for damage or debris in the way of the sensor.

hope this helps!

Low oil warning light

Oil level sensor is on the side of the oil pan and is a float devise with an electrical connector. They can and do fail but your guess may be right. If the engine oil level is correct on the dip stick then drive it some while and it may correct it's self.

It is easy to remove after you drain the oil. A few 10mm(?) headed bolts hold it in, along with an O ring to seal it.

When the car idles down where it almost stalls then the oil pressure does go down far enough to trigger the Light. Probably not an oil problem at all.
A bad O2 sensor may cause a bad running car. A dirty MAF sensor will cause a bad idle too. You need to get the Code off the Check Engine light

COULD HAVE SHORT IN WIRING CIRCUIT OR PCM PROBLEMS.IT WOULD NOT BE SAFE TO DRIVE CAR WITH O2 SENSOR FAULT. BECAUSE FUEL MIXTURE WOULD BE TOO RICH CAUSING CATALYTIC CONVERTER DAMAGE CAUSING IT TO OVERHEAT GET RED HOT UNDER CAR CAUSE FIRE AND YOU WOULD HAVE A LOT OF FUEL CONSUMPTION .I WOULD NOT DRIVE CAR.BETTER TO USE A RENTAL CAR FOR LONG TRIP GET CAR CHECK OUT AGAIN AT THE DEALERSHIP.

Check oil level. Make sure you're using the right weight oil. If those are good, you've either got a bad oil pressure sensor or pressure problems with the pump or worn engine bearings. Could be a sitcking pressure relief valve in the pump. But also could be a worn engine
