Rear wheel bearings for my 1988 Suzuki Samurai

Are the rear wheel bearings pressed in or do they slide out?????

  • Anonymous May 11, 2010

They are press on. When getting new bearings there are two options. One is the bearing will come with a seperate spacer ring. Two the bearing will have the spacer built onto the bearing.

You just need one spacer so if you get the bearings with the spacers built on then you dont need the seperate spacer.

They are pressed in, not an easy job.

How do i replace the rear axel bearings on a 1988 Chevrolet IROC Z28 Camaro

Put car in neutral, remove wheels, calipers and rotors, diff. cover. rotate carrier until you see wrist pin retaining bolt, remove bolt and slide out the wrist pin out of carrier. Next push axle inward to remove inner axle "C" retainer washer then slide axle out of tube. Then pry off axle seal and with slide hammer w/attachment remove axle bearing.

How do you use 4 wheel drive on a suzuki samuri

the samurai doesn't have 2L it has 2H.
there are 4 modes on the transfercase. 2H, 4H, N and 4L.
2H engages the rear wheels only while 4H and 4L engages all 4 wheels. N disengages all 4 wheels, useful for flat towing.

Steering knuckle for 1988 suzuki samurai need diagram to show me step by step and want to change front barrinngs inner and outter.this is a jeep and sounds like a front wheel drive car with bad back...

No noise should come from the front when you are driving on asphalt as you are in 2WD, right? If you have been using 4WD with the hubs locked on asphalt, then there's every chance that your CVs are shot. You are, of course, unlocking the hubs when you are only in 2WD aren't you? When the hubs are unlocked and the car is in 2WD, the CVs do absolutely nothing. With the hubs unlocked, and the front jacked up, spin the wheel and listen for noises, and grab the top and bottom of the wheel and wiggle it in and out and check for movement. If there's no noise and very little movement, then your bearings are unlikely to be the problem. These are taper roller bearings and can be adjusted.
