Sounds like an intermittant fault in the ABS control valve, most likely one of the solenoid valves is sticking or out of self test range..

I gave u good sound honest info based on 30 years as a dealership tech, and that includes chevy dealers, just trying to help, thanks for trying??? OBD code reader will not read ABS codes, it reads emission and engine fuel management codes and data only.

My brakes dont work properly untill the abs light glows on my dash in a 98 ford windstar what is this problem

abs unit fault. could be the connector the seals do fail on them. you will need to take the connector plug off the unit clean it and check the seal.

98 GRAND PRIX WONT CRANK SOMETIMES

This is a trick some folks do to figure out if it's the starter. When the car doesn't crank, take something like a bat or a metal bar and hit the starter and few times. If the car starts right away then it's your starter, otherwise you might consider the fuel pump relay/fuel pump.

Abs and traction control dash lites come on and off at various time..sometimes never come on

Your abs and traction control lights should only come on when you start to slide while breaking(ABS), and when your wheels spin in place when excelerating(TC). If those 2 things don't happen, which with some people they never do, you should never see the lights come on. Only when those mechanisms are in use do the lights come on. And they will always flicker as that is what abs and tc are, intermitant surges to break up the constant. ABS does this for obvious reasons...anti lock break, so when you slide, the abs "taps" the breaks in short bursts so they don't lock up. TC "taps" the exclelrator when it slips. Those "taps" are what trigger the lights on your dash, which is why they flicker and don't stay on.

My abs light stays on while car is running-should i worry?

most likely it just disables the abs which some people hate so depending on who owns it could be good , BUT i would get it checked cause on those vehicles i believe that on the wheel bearing is and abs sensor and sometimes it's easy to get caught & rip or pull wires off BUT like i said worst case NO ABS & abs is when you hit brakes hard they pulsate till ya stop and with no abs you hit brakes hard and they lock up till ya stop .

ABS problem with GMC 2002 Sierra

its a low speed abs activation the problem is in the front sensors they need to be cleaned or replaced they [or one] probably has some corrosion on the sensor --[the 99 chevy tahoes had a limited recall over this issue and the fix was to remove and clean the abs sensor or if to corroded replace ] this problem doesnt set off an abs code or trouble light also sometimes the abs will activate by itself at under 4 mph without even touching brake

ABS Light and Parking brake light on

sounds like your vehicle speed sensor is going out. it's the modern equivilent of a speedometer cable. it tells the computer how fast your going which the computer uses to determine shift points, abs function, and speedometer readings. they usually act up a bit before they go out. it confuses the computer. normally located in the extension housing at the rear of the transmission where the spedometer cable would be on an older vehicle

How do you bleed brakes on a 1999 GMC Sierra with ABS 2wheel drive 1500 series

The rule of thumb is to start as far away from the master cylinder as poss. so it means you start at the right rear, left rear, right front, then at last left front. There is a little a little weep bolt on each calliper it needs to be un lossened when break is fully applyed then tighten weep bolt back up pump the breaks while weep bolt is still tight then hold brake pedal down to floor lossen weep bolt till a full steam of fluid comes out tighten bolt back up, now move on to the next break calliper and repeat this same proccess till you finished. Hope this works better than r/r l/r r/f l/f lol!!!!

2000 passat 4 motion

Check brake fluid level first and foremost- top off as necessary.

1. Start with checking if sensor was reconnected - sometimes they will not seat properly. - were the sensor wires damaged during/after install.

2. Now in all VAG products I have owned with ABS the manual states that you need to perform a raod teat with at least 1 ABS event i.e. go on a gravel road or grassy area or if its icy/snowy just hit the breaks. This should set the ABS for normal operation.

The fact that you have an ABS light on tells me that you have a connector/sensor problem.

Hope this helps.
