I have a crimestopper remote car starter that stopped working 2 yrs ago, didn't quite bother about it till date. I do remember chaning my car battery around that time. Would that cause this issue? If so, please help me with instructions on how to fix this? The FCC ID given on the remote is crimestopper - FCC ID: CHXP19695.
Thanks

If your dealer is nice they may charge about a half hour of labor. Most charge about an hour. I would guess $50-$100.

believe it or not you need to take it to the dealer. There is a software reprogram for the remote control door lock receiver to fix the probelm - really common on tahoes and suburbans. Go to the dealer and tell them about bulletin #06-08-52-002g. It probably will need new remotes also. Try and get the dealer to warranty it since its a known product defect and a known problem

happened to me once. the fuse for it was blown. $3 fuse replacement. check the fuse box & manual for this component. the fuse removal tool is located inside the engine fusebox area, and the fuse for the lock is inside the driver side box.

Simple fix, Check your wiring to the flux cap relay, your must have the polarity backwards. The wiring digram you received with the cap kit is for European 50 hz. You will have to reset the relay with a spike voltage of 13.9 vDC Hooking the neg to the pos and touch for just a second. rewire as per the directions be careful to install the 100 ohm resistor across the relay terms # 87 and 86 the .47 mf cerm. cap will now be wired across the wiper relay to engage fast forward or step thru time, this will reset for 60hz USA quad voltage used in this system. See you in a few.
SOURCE: remote start does not work
henryj153, no offence guy, but if you dont know something, dont try and give advice. Now for the guy with the problem mattpointer:
These cars come with remote start as an option, and it is problably your BCM (Body Control Module), which is a $380 part, and the dealer has to install it, because of the programing... Here is a free way of checking if that is it. This part ties in certain vehicle systems, and for some reason when the BCM goes bad, so does the GPS, that is tied in with OnStar Check to see if your onstar can recieve GPS... press the blue OnStar button and ask them to locate you. If you dont have the service, they may want to start the service, just humor them as if you were interested, and ask them to locate you first, because you want to make sure the equiptment works. If they cant locate you, but you are able to use OnStar to contact them, most likely The BCM is bad, and thats what it is. This car has some great technology, but the intergration of this tech is in the BCM, and it goes bad.... so its a trip to the dealer for you my friend.
