When you disconnect your battery and then reconnect it again, it disables the radio. This is an anti-theft protection for your car radio.
The enable your radio the activation code is in your vehicle owner's manual. If you do not have this code you need to go to your vehicle manufacturer's service centre and get them to enter this code for you.

SOURCE: GM Radio Codes

Try this:

GM DELCO THEFTLOCK RADIO UNLOCK CODE:
1. Press and hold presets 2 and 3 for about 5 to 10 seconds until you get 3 digits on your display. This is the first 3 of 6 digits you will need, so write 'em down.
2. After doing step one and writing down the code, immediately press the AM/FM button to get the last 3 of the 6 numbers you'll need, and write 'em down. (if you wait too long between steps 1 and 2 and the LOC code displays again, just start over).
3. Call this number, it's a prerecorded message, so don't worry about
having to talk to anyone...1-800-537-5140. The voice will ask if you're
calling for Chevy, Pontiac, Cadillac, etc... When you here him tell you to press "2" for Pontiac, press 206010 and hit the # key. He'll ask you for the 6 digit code that you've written down. Enter that and press the * key. He will then give you a code, and the option to get additional 4 digit codes, but one should be sufficient.
4. Follow the normal procedure in your owners manual for unlocking the
radio with your new code...press the hour set button on your radio until you get the first two numbers of the code, then press the minute set button until you've entered the last two numbers. Immediately press the AM/FM button once the correct code is entered and the code SEC or "secured" will be displayed on the display screen. Now, just turn the radio on, and your ready to roll.

There is an additional step you can take to remove all codes from the
radio and start from scratch by entering your own personalized 4 digit code so that it won't get you in a pickle again! Just repeat step 4 and you should get a display screen that reads ---. This means the code is out, and you can now program your own code. Of course, once you
receive the 4 digit code from the GM recorded message, just keep it in a safe place, because you can use that same code again and again should you have any more problems with it in the future. Good luck, and yes, it does work.

Hope help with this.

I have the six digitcode682695 for 2,000 Chevy astro van delco radio. How do ifind the loc code for it

re: 2000 Chevy astro van delco radio unlock code 682695.

Good luck and please flag if HELPFUL". Thanks!

How to Unlock a Delco Radio - Instructions

1) Obtain the six-digit dealer code - yours is above. ( this doesn't apply: Contact your local GM dealer. If you explain the situation, most will provide the code to you. If they are not willing to provide the code, contact other GM dealers until you find one that will help you

2) Turn the ignition key to the "ON" position, without turning the engine over. Hold the preset buttons "2" and "3" for 10 seconds. The radio will display a three-digit code. Write this number down and then quickly press the "AM/FM" button. Three more digits will be displayed. These six numbers are the serial code for your radio.

3) Call the GM assistance hotline at 800-537-5140. Follow the prompts and select the brand of your vehicle. Enter the six-digit dealer code and then enter the six-digit radio serial code. The automated system will provide you with a four-digit code to unlock your radio.

4) With the ignition on, use the "Hour" button on your radio to input the first two numbers of the four-digit code. Use the "Minute" button to input the last two digits. Press "AM/FM" to set the code. The radio is now unlocked and ready for use.

Need a code to unlock my radio for a 97 grand prix

Follow these steps to unlock your GM Delco Radio:
1. Turn the ignition ON (The Delco radio displays "LOC" or "INOP").

A. If your radio says "INOP" then you have entered too many wrong codes. You will need to run the vehicle for one hour or turn the key into the ON position for one hour before you can proceed to Step 2.

2. Looking at the face of your GM Delco radio, hold down the preset buttons 1&4 or 2&3 for approximately 10 seconds. The radio display changes from "LOC" to a three-digit number. Write this number down.

3. Press the AM/FM button. The radio display changes to another three-digit number. Write this number to the right of the first one.

4. You now have a six-digit number, the first three digits are from STEP 2 and the last three digits are from STEP 3, you will have a number like this (612-622).

A. NOTE: Saturn and GEO vehicles will only display a four-digit number. The fourth digit will be displayed half the size of the first three digits. Example: 2193.

Hope helps (remember rated and comment this).

When i try to turn my radio on it says loc hoow do i unlock it?

Does your GM car or truck Radio display LOC and does not turn on? Chevrolet, Buick, Pontiac, GMC, Cadillac, Oldsmobile vehicles used a theft system to lock the radio when power is lost. This system was used from the ealy 1990's to the early 2000's.

Instructions:
  1. If your radio displays the word LOC, you can retrieve a set of factory numbers in the radio that enable you to get a backup unlock code. If the radio says INOP, you will have to leave the key in the "ON" position, or let the car run for at least 1 hour before you attempt any unlock procedure. INOP means a secondary theft lock due to too many false attempts to unlock the radio.
  2. Looking at the face of your GM Delco radio, hold down the preset buttons 1 & 4 OR 2 & 3 (Depending on year and model) for approximately 10 seconds or until a set of 2 or 3 numbers comes up on the display. Write the numbers down.
  3. Next press the AM / FM button. A new set of 3 numbers will now show. Write these numbers down. You will then need to call a 1-800 phone number with these numbers to get the unlock code. There are many sites on the internet that can get it for you- for a small fee. Or, try calling your local GM Dealer and ask for them to do it. Many times they will do it for free. It only takes a minute.
  4. Once you have the unlock code, enter it by pressing the MIN button until the display shows the last 2 digits of the unlock code, then press the HR button until the first 2 numbers or shown. Then press the AM / FM button to enter the code. The radio will now display SEC, and normal function is restored.
Also, its possible that you need RESET your GM Radio; this is the procedure: While performing maintenance on your car, you may disconnect the radio from the battery in your GM vehicle. GM cars contain Delco radios that are protected by Theftlock, which locks the radio after it has been disconnected from a power source. Iit can only be reset and unlocked with a car-specific security code. Identifying the security code for your GM vehicle is the only way to reset the car radio and disable the Theftlock protection device.

Instructions:
  1. Turn on your car. Your Delco radio will show "LOC" in the LED display.
  2. Press and hold down both the second and third preset buttons. Hold these buttons down for at least six seconds.
  3. Write down the two- or three-digit code that appears in the LED display.
  4. Press the AM/FM button on the radio.
  5. Write down the next two- or three-digit code that appears in the LED display. You should be left with either a four- or six-digit number. Turn off your car.
  6. Call the Delco radio automated customer support line at 1-800-537-5140.
  7. Press "1" and then press the pound sign. The automated voice should respond "Invalid code, try again."
  8. Enter the number 139010 into your phone and then press the "*" sign.
  9. Enter the four- or six-digit number you wrote down from Steps 3 and 5, and then press the "*" button.
  10. Write down the four-digit code given by the automated voice.
  11. Turn on your car. Enter the Delco unlock code using the procedure outlined by your GM owner's manual. Normally, the unlock code is entered with the "HR" and "MN" buttons on your radio.
  12. Press the AM/FM button. If you have entered the code correctly, your LED display will read "SEC" and the radio will be unlocked.

My radio is locked i just need the code for a monte carlo 97 GM delco radio

If the code is not at the back of your manual, try 0000 and if the radio locked it self from taking any more codes. Just disconnect the battery and that will reset the radio so you can re-enter the code. If 0000 did not work then log on to Radio-code.com, you can get your cod there for like $12.00 which is cheaper then the dealer and you get to know the codes as most dealer will just unlock the radio. Good luck and hope this helps, keep me posted if you have any more question.
