Vehicle speed sensor. This runs the odometer/speedometer. Top of tranny, a cable runs all the way to the back of the odometer.

SOURCE: odometer jumping

Hi....

On your HONDA. the common problem is the Vehicle speed sensor .
I recomend get the car scanned with a diagnostic computer scanner.
Because the speed sensor malfuntion, will give a code and Afect the trans. with the performance.
The "D" light flashing is code refer to a transmission malfuntion.
But the code can be only for the speed sensor.
The AUTOZONE, ADVANCE and NAPA autoparts. they will scan your car without charge is just a Extra service that they give to the customers. If the scanner show the speed sensor code Just replace and the car will fine.

OK. I hope this help on your problem.
Thank you for use fixya.

SOURCE: 2000 Accord LX, 4 Cyl. check engine light and error codes P1457, P1739

A very common late 90's code, P1457 is a failure in one of the evap system solenoid valves. There are 2 culprits, the Vent Control Valve & the 2 Way Bypass Valve. So, start working with those and see if you can get the 1457 code off of it.

I also looked around about the 1739 code as well which a transaxle error. However, I've found that there has been more than enough reported cases of problems of the such. Take a look at this link, and do a little reading.

I hope this helps you out.

SOURCE: Check engine and d4 lights on

d4 is flashing as a trouble code for the automatic transmission... i would say without research that it is a code for a transmission solenoid. maybe while washing the car some water got in and caused a short...these solenoids are usually weatherproof....you could try disconnscting the battery for 30 secs..to clear the trouble code and then start the car. remember you may lose your preset info!

SOURCE: 1995 Honda Accord LX -- odometer failure

Has the speedometer failed to?? if so, you are probably in need of the cable that runs from your transmission to the back of the speedometer. This item is called the speedometer cable. If just the odometer itself failed then you have to pull the cluster and have it serviced typically i take mine to the dealer if that happens. (just the cluster, not the whole car.) hope this helps.

1996 honda accord odometer not working the speedometer works but the odometer doesn't also the trip meter doesnt work either just all of a sudden stopped working

Hello,

Were you able to fix your problem? I'm having the same issue with my car, where the Odometer intermittently jumps from 0-48. At times when I start driving the engine stalls and the Odometer starts to act up. The Egine Light is always on. I would appreciate any help.

1997 Honda Accord, 4 cyl, auto trans. When I turn

The starter sit on top I belive on the passenger side above the transmission, have some one hold the key to start while you tap or even hit the starter some time it will crank over if it does replace it, not that big of a job. If it still dont start there a big wire that one comes from the battery and a small one that come from you ignition switch ( key ) jump those two wire's ( if stander transmission make sure you have it out of gear ) there should be voltage at big wire all the time, if it still dont crank over replace starter assembly.Hope this was very helpful.

Hi
Try to jump start the car.
Put the jump leads on and leave it for 10 mins
that will charge the battery up
then try and start.
Also check the starter motor.

'91 Honda Accord LX transmission light on.

You say "standard transmission?" Do you mean "standard" as in "manual/5 spd./'stick-shift'?" transmission?

Either way, if you replaced the alternator belt and the battery light went away and the car doesn't sputter or stop, then it's the "speed sensor" on the transmission itself. The car will still drive, but the speedometer cannot read how fast the car is going (in RPM's as well).
