Before anything check yoour cable connections and any fuses; if these are fine look to the starter. This will be located on the lower right (passenger side of the engine) Start by removing the battery ground (negative) after which remove the starter; I believe they're are two larger bolts @ 14 - 17 MM. If you can have the starter test at an auto parts store. You can bench test the starter yourself if you like.
I hope this may have assisted,
Tom
Go to www.hmaservice.com and register( Vehicle by VIN). Afterward, you have access to shop manuals, service bulletins, wiring diagrams, etc. about your vehicle.
try the left side of the engine... gear oils smell are diffent from the engine oil and the viscosity... gear oils are thicker... u wont go wrong on this...
starter is on the right side of the engine under the vehicle. It is extreamly tight to get in and out, might need to jack the engine up a little for clearance. The wires to the starter can be accessed through the right fender well.
1. open hood
2. remove batt. cables
3.remove batt. cable on starter
starter is located lower pass. side of motor
(also might be a couple of other wires connected to the starter remove them as well & remember their locations).
4. remove two bolts that mount the starter to the trans. bell housing. and remove starter
5. install new starter and hook wires up with the batt. last.
I can locate one in new zealand relatively cheap for you but that probably isnt too much help. Try EBAY and see if you can find one there. Failing that I would contact a local auto wrecker to see if they have one or can get one.
