Hello, i have order and received a lh door handle for my 1996 rr se 4.0. I want to replace the handle myself, are there any special tools needed or any specifics i need to know? I really want to fix this asap due that it took almost 2 months to receive the part and i really miss driving my range. The assembly has not been damaged but it looks kind of difficult to get everything back in order. Do i really need to have a rr mechanic to do this job?
Thanks for any help or ideas.
No specialty tools and the handle should have only 2 linkage clips
To do this you need to remove the door card or you do on most other car doors , some car door cards can be tricky if you don't take out all the screws and where the hidden ones are so what to do is ie workshop manual , or what I call the cars bible for any problems go on youtube on how to fit your handle if that fails go to your local kwik fit on a weekend and ask one of the lads if thay want a little private job , my mate does it all the time on weekend to earn extra cash good luck and would like to know how you got on please colin

This car is in super lock mode... when you press remote 2times to lock or when you lock with remote and try to unlock using key manually.
there is a 4 digit number to open the door, its like opening a safe, starting from the left(key in car door) it goes L/R/L/R. so if number code is 1234..... left 1, right 2, left 3, right 4.
or if this too troublesome you can ask landrover dealer to remove the KEYCODE.
happy trying.....
