Other gears run fine when i am on the highway works great just when i drive from 25 to 40 mph the engine revs and wont shift it delays and you have to feather the gas to drive untill it shifts past it into 3rd
You don't have torque converter shudder. You don't even mention that in your original post! You def had a solenoid issue. My 94 STS did the same thing. I only had reverse, 1st and 2nd gear. Wouldn't shift outa 2nd period. It was a $200 solenoid repair. Car had a 160K on it when that happened. I have almost 170k on it now. Shifts and works fine. you don't need the tranny replaces ad josavv63 indicates.
The filter was not staying in place and would not build presure with the new shift solenoids. Would only build 60 pounds and needs alot more had to put on a scaner to figure it out.

2nd gears gone on your tranny and or your haveing what they call a torque converter shudder which is when the torque converter locks up causing high revs big bucks to repair on a deville

the car has reverse 1st and 2nd gear and nothing else. I was told it could be the shift solenoids.
Where are they located and how hard is it to replace them? and could this be the problem This is the sls
have 2nd gear no 3 and 4th

Car shifts from first to second okay but will not shift to third or fourth what could be the problem? Also we're is the transmission dipstick
i drove the car just fine the next day it wont shift in the rev. or drive that do i do/
