Automatic shift lever wont come out of gear stuck in park
There should be a release hole by the shifter stick a pin in it and press the button to release the shifter. if not press brake down and try to shift

Well, Im not sure on your specific make, but I can't believe Jeep is still having this problem, My 2000 Grand Cherokee was always doing that. Usually, (It was the 'ol hammer trick,) in at least keep jamming forward on the (floor stick in my case) shifter and keep trying to start it. ( while it's in Park, but just kept hitting it forward) Best I got, there was just that glitch, but always worked whenever it may have happened.

It could be lash in the differential which is normal, but it could also be a loose u-joint in the driveshaft. Check the rear driveshaft u-joints.

Likely the shift detent mechanism is broken. It's inside the unit and can be reached by removing the trans pan. It should be just inside where the shift lever goes through the case.

either the shift collar on the column is dry and worn inside where is slides on the upper column or the linkage at the tranny is out os schync due to a pin or keeper that came lose letting the shift linkage back up out of the crank on the tranny

You have a defective lock out switch that prevents you from shifting. If you look down at the console, you should see a small hole that allows you to place the tip of a pen into it, and while pressing it will allow you to move the shifter. Check the owners manual for more details. You'll have to get it checked out to correct, otherwise you may have to do this procedure all the time.
