Need a lot more info, like what it sounds like when you try and start it, has any work been done recently?, what engine is it?
The car when u turn on key lights go dim u get nothing. You can push start it & pop the clutch & start it that way It has a new starter & starter relay
The engine is a 2.0 and the relay for neutral saftey switch has also been changed
If the lights dim then the battery is likely to be too weak. If it hasn't been started for a while then you can try running the car for at least 15 minutes or using a proper battery charger but Iwould suspect the cold weather has killed it. 50-70 for a new one.
Thank you Do you know anything about the security system?
not really, i've only messed with honda and several diy units
i will have ago if you describe the problem
Car has no power It is completly shut down Changed battery to one I know is good nothing It is just dead No juice at all Doesnt do anything when u turn the key Have seen it maybe security system
Sounds like an immobiliser but usually you'll get dash lights. Do the electric windows work or central locking? A completely dead response would still indicate a battery issue. have you tried jump starting it? I have know knock sensors do this too. thats impact knock sensors for airbags not the engine knock sensor. VW's are funny things. all sorts of problems occur when you remove power for a while. The reader coil can cause problems try. Disconnect battery for 20-30 mins Reconnect. Keys into ignition and turn till dash lights ect come on.(do not attempt to start).....Immobiliser warning shows as before. Leave keys in ignition with ignition on and after 20-30 mins or so it should reset immobiliser.
well for now he has it running He hooked up a toggle switch That will start it He has to have to have the key on then flips the switch & the car starts & runs perfect. Wondering if it might be the ignition?
Sorry for late reply, I've been working long hours. If by passing the ignition with a toggle switch work then it could be the ignition but if the problem just developed after changing the battery I would suggest the problem is related to the immobiliser, in particular the coil in the ignition that senses you key. If you continue to use the toggle switch just be sure it can take the current i.e it's not getting hot in use.
