Rear wiper doesn't press hard enough

On our 2005 Grand Caravan, the rear wiper doesn't clean more than half the normal area, despite several full-blade-assembly changes.I think the motor has become loose where the shaft goes through the hole in the back window. This keeps the wiper from aligning correctly, and doesn't allow it to apply enough force to wipe the glass. Is there a simple (or not) way to tighten this?

I had a similar problem on my Jeep. I tried replacing the blades and it didn't fix anything....just wasted some money. I used WD-40 and still nothing. After 3 winters I decided to try something simple. I put pressure on the base to brace it and tried bending the distal end towards the vehicle. I didn't see it move at all. But it was worth a shot. I turned it on and it contacted perfectly; it operated the way it was when I first got the truck. Good look and I hope this works for you nor is it too late since you posted 2 months ago.

Have you tried to replace the arm assembly? with the spring and everything? the spring can weaken and not press the blade on the glass properly. you said blade so im assuming you meant blade. try the arm. there is not much there that can go wrong on these.

No. Remove Interior trim panel on the gate door and you will see the wiper motor. Need tool to slide under trim edge and pop fasteners that hold trim in place.

1998 Dodge grand caravan .there is a module that needs reprogrammed, this happens all the time. How?

Put your controls all the way to cold(mine is all the way to left). Turn your blower switch all the way to High. Put the position to console vents(all the way left).Hold down top left button(rear wiper) and bottom left button(rear washer) at the same time until all lights are solid. Then release. Let the buttons flash until only top left(rear wiper) is flashing. Then press top left(rear wiper) to end test.Should help those pesky flashing lights unless there are deeper Problems!

I need to replace the windshield wiper blade

The 1998 Dodge Grand Caravan takes 28" wiper blades on both sides front and a 18" rear wiper. See related links below for more information. Since there are over 22 different wiper arm attachments, do not buy wipers just by length only - be sure to lookup exact wiper blade part numbers by vehicle make, model and year for the brand wiper you decide to purchase. This ensures correct length AND correct attachment.

How do i replace the window shield wiper blade

The 1998 Dodge Grand Caravan has the most common hook-end wiper arms. See related links below for installation videos. Also, purchase the replacement blades first and there will be additional instructions/illustrations on the replacement packages. Locate and press the tab or button where the wiper blade is inserted into the hook of the wiper arm and pull wiper blade out of hook. You may have to rotate and flex the blade to make enough clearance for the hook to pass through.

I have 2 problems. First the front end of my 2005 Grand Caravan makes a thumping noise. I thought it may be the struts or stabilizer bushings, I took it to a dealer and they said that it is niether and...

As for the front noise. Sounds like the ball joints. They wear a groove in the cup, where they sit. When they go over the lip, they make a thump sound. As for the rear wiper arm. If the arm has been taking off, folks strip the knurl teeth out of the arm. If the motor is working back & forth right, & wiper arm is tight. Oil the hinge pin on the wiper arm. They get alot of dirt on the back window. If all else fails replace wiper arm.

AC & Rear wiper switch button indicator lights blink

The procedure for re-setting the HVAC control panel on a 1998 Dodge Grand Caravan follows:
With ignition on but not running
1. turn knob to air vents
2. turn fan knob to ON
3. temperature setting on COLD (2X) {I have dual temp controls}
4. hold top(rear wiper) and bottom (rear wiper with wash) buttons pressing down together until all the buttons cycle through (this will require 1 to 2 minutes of continuous pressing)
I learned this from a very helpful local Dodge service adviser
