Rear speakers do not work with aftermarket stereo install

'98 Audi cabriolet. installed aftermarket Alpine HU and only front (L & R) speakers work. Car has factory (R & L) rear speakers and a third speaker between the rear seats (subwoofer?)- all three do not work. However, what appears to be the RR and LR wires have been connected to the HU via an aftermarket wiring harness. The original harness was connected directly to the Blaupunkt Delta CC HU and then two additional plugs of many wires came out of the HU and into two series of wires. There were a jumble of wires in there and a jumble of wires to the third center rear speaker. Totally confused and pondering... Wondering if I need to RCA out of Alpine HU to the wires at the additional plugs.

I had the same problem a while back after having a JVC MP£ player fitted at Halfords. The guy told me my sub-woofer behind the back seat wouldn't work with the new stereo which I said was ridiculous, then one of the other guys came to look and told him I needed a different cable to link everything together - then it worked brilliantly.
Sorry I dont know a part number but that is definately your problem.
I hope this helps - or better still that you already have it sorted !!

I have a 98 durango..aftermarket stereo wont play front speakers.the backs work.what color is the amp turn on wire..does it go to blue wire from hu

If the back works then the amp isn't the problem. Either the front speakers are shot or the h.u. or amp have bad xhannels...assuming it was installed correctly. Www.modifiedlife.com has an excellent resource of factory color codes for stereos.

Installing aftermarket stereo

Sounds like one of your connections are bad. Go through them again and be sure everything is secure. Also, definately check the fader and balance settings, could just be that the fader is set to front and balance is set to left. Also, why did you punch the first one?

Need wire diagram for 2001 toyota tacoma for installing JVC kw-nt3hdt stereo or any advice

Hi, here are your factory wire colors/functions. Aftermarket stereos have a common set of colors, which should be in your installation diagram. The process is simplified if you purchase a wiring adapter for your vehicle. These are available for under $10 at most WALMARTs and auto parts stores or about any place that sells car stereos. In either case, I recommend you solder the connections or at least use crimp terminals. If you have any more questions, please let me know--I've done a lot of stereo installations.

98 Ram 1500 Speaker issue

I hate to do it, but have to ask, who did the install? Chyslers have that floating ground set-up that has thrown even the best install guys into a fit. When I was doing them, I overcame that with aftermarket installs by running my own separate wires to speakers, and back to stereo. There are adapter plugs that are good for that available too.
