XLT, Expedition 2006 ABS light came on and the ABS stops working. also noticed that the AWD doesn't engage when slipping. 4x4 H works fine. in AWD the 4x4 light comes on when ii press breaks. ABS is off when i start it but comes on after first braking. Any Ideas? I looked for a speed sensor in the rear end diff but could not locate?
Having the vehicle checked for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble code's would be a good first step . ABS light on codes are stored . Suggest you take your vehicle to a qualified repair shop that has the knowledge an testing equipment to diagnose the problem properly .

SOURCE: abs light on
I'm a Ford service adviser. There are many reasons for the
abs warning indicator to come on. The usual cause is from a
faulty speed sensor. Either a wheel speed sensor or the
differential speed sensor. I don't think the light is related to your
vandalism. You might want to take the truck to an auto parts store and
have them read the codes for you. Most auto parts stores will do this
for free.
Good Luck
SOURCE: remote starter
I had the same issue with my remote start on another vehicle, the part that bypasses the code on the key had to be reset. The way we figured it out was everything was normal except the vehicle did not start & the security light flashed rapidly.

Hope I was avle to help, glad you up and going.
SOURCE: 99 ford expedition, abs light stays on, front
When was the last time you changed the front brake pads?
Try this:
Keep the brake pedal pressed down and start the car, after it idles for about 10 second let go of the pedal. If the light comes on just as you leave the pedal - try pumping it a few times, turn the car off and pump the pedal some more until it becomes real hard.
Then, keeping your foot to the pedal, start the car.
Idle for about 10 seconds, let go of the pedal and press it again rel fast.
If the light doesnt come on again - it means you have a leak of some sort or that the main brake pump should be replaced.
Good luck.

the first thing i would check on any 4x4 AWD is to see if the vacume lines
were conected to the transfor case and getting vacume when engaded i have found this to be the
