I ran my car out of gas 1995 geo tracker . Ran fine for two days after . Replaced fuel filter . Fuel pump is working. Now it won't start . It try's but then dies ? Any suggestion would be appreciated

so ran fine for 2 days
id bet it didnt have only 1 gallon there.
or did you run it dry again.?
the pump is fuel lubricated and cooled
ran dry invites wrecking a good pump.

I hava a 1992 pontiac grand am . I replaced the fuel tank and the fuel pump. It trys to start but it will not run. It is like it is getting some gas but not enough to start.

Put at least 5 gallons of gas in the tank. Most tank baffles won't let 1 or 2 gallons get to the pump.
Before you do that, go back and make sure everything is hooked up, and no rotten rubber lines at tank and evap connections. If you didn't already, change the fuel filter.

Wont start after it ran out of gas after I filled it with gas

Cycle the key several times to the run position and then back to the off position to try to bleed the air out it. Let it sit for about 30 seconds between cycles. How much fuel did you put in the tank. I would say that you need to put at least 2 gallons in it. You may need to change your fuel filter. When you ran it our of fuel you clould have picked up crud off the bottom of the tank and plugged the filter. You mave have damaged the fuel pump. Remove your gas cap and have a helper turn the key to the run position not start position. You should hear your pump buzzing. If you don't hear it I would suspect that something is wrong.

I ran out of gas and now it wont start

Put at least 2 gallons of gas in the tank. Now with your fist or a big rubber hammer beat on the bottom of the fuel tank while some one is holding the key in start position. I have gotten lucky with this in the past to get the electric fuel pump to run long enough to get home. The fuel pump and filter may need replaced due to age. Just ask if you need to know how. Thanks for asking at Fixya.com

Almost ran out of gas. put 5 gallons in tank.

worst thing for fuel pumps is to run dry. The pressure will need to be confirmed. If none ,you overheated the pump and it will need to be replaces.

My chevy uplander 2007 ran out of gas. I have

Since the Uplanders have the long (front to back) skinny gas tank, with the outlet to the rear; if you run out of gas with the front/nose inclined lower than the rear, then it can take upwards of 5 to 8 gallons to get it started again. It was written up in a GM TSB. Two gallons won't start it. When the gage reads less than 1/2, it's not a good idea to park with the front lower than the rear...unless you carry a full 5 gal. refill. Thank you GM engineering.

Car wont start

there is a emergency shut off switch in the trunk to keep the pump from burning out when you run out of gas if by chance yours does not have one you will need to replace pump
