Trunk&Gas Tank Buttons in driver door Don't work!

The buttons trunk and gas buttons don't do their jobs when pushed. They both make the sound like they're opening, but it's not. I can only open the trunk manually, with the key. I have to pry the gas tank cover to open.

    Problem is similar but it's the rear hatch (trunk) that has problem. When the button is pressed you must have someone at the hatch to force finger tips under hatch lip or it will close immediately when button is released! The gas door works fine.

The actuator should be accessible from inside the trunk behind the trunk liner (just follow the wire). You should be able to remove the actuator and manually push the latch.

Open the glove box; you'll see two buttons to the left, the lower one is for the gas tank. Get an owner's manual asap as it helps to have this. Best of luck. (here's my ride)

emergency release should be in the trunk as for the closing of the trunk, you need to disconnect the cable at the trunk latch until you can get it fixed

Where do i find the external fuel pump on a 1984 fuel injected ford thunderbird? The fuel pump that isn't in the gas tank failed but I don't know where its located I just got the car.
ford expert is incorrect. the 1984 t-birds have a primary and a secondary pump. the primary pump on the fram rail is located in a small housing in front of the rear axel.

My Volvo S70 has a gas tank lid that locks when closed. There is a release on the driver's door. Yesterday when I tried to use the release on the driver's door to open the gas tank lid the gas tank lid...

Is this a lever or button you pull or push? If it's a button than it must be electric and there is likely a fuse somewehre in the link for both trunk and gas lid that may be under the dash, by the engine, or somwhere else.

If it's a lever than it's likely a cable that runs back to them...but not sure how BOTH would be 'broken'. Does the lever feel 'different' as in loose or less tension than in the past?

Radio, trunk and gas door do not work
Check all fuses both inside the car and under the hood. Consult the owners manual for the location of the fuse boxes.

Otherwise, have a mechanic troubleshoot the cars electrical system.

Gas Tank door stuck
Try having a second person pull on the door as you press the button, and also listen by the door to see if you can hear the release latch working. Also, open your trunk, and on the same side as your gas tank will be a little pull handle as an emergency release for your fuel door. It may be behind the trunk liner, but usualy they are easily accessable. and if you have any other problems, refer to the owner's manual to locate the release.

Gas tank door
I had one gas door solenoid replaced under warranty. Since then I have just shot a bit of WD40 onto the post comng from the solenoid that holds the door closed. Do this at each oil change and the problems should stop.
