Mitsubishi Lancer ES '02 - Rattling noise in 1st gear...

Hi everyone,

I have a problem with my lancer when it's in 1st gear. It makes a rattling noise. It only happens when I press on the accelerator. I've been asking friends and family and they think it might be the motor mount or the engine. The front of the car was hit, just so you know. Any ideas what this could be?

It's a Lancer 02 (ES) with 55000 miles on it. Nothing else wrong with it other then the blower motor resistor, but I fixed that.

I think you might need to ask someone to throttle up the car and you look underneath to try locating the rattling noise. Don't forget that this model runs the exaust pipe in front of the motor so it might be an exaust rattle as well??
Cheers

I have a 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer. A few weeks ago when I turned on the air I could hear like a rattling in the fan. Now the air will run for a little while then slowly weeken until it just stops. What could...

It could be your aircon blower that's busted. I had the same issue with a 97 Lancer. It was the motor of the blower that was defective so I had it replaced. Never heard the rattling noise and the A/C works perfectly fine after the replacement.

HTH and good luck!

2003 lancer

I am sure the issue is belt related noise, it must be inspected not just for the belt but the idlers and pulleys the belt runs on, they may have a worn bearings or other damage, if all looks good then and only then change the belt. I hope this info is helpful.
