The engine knocks at startup and when the gas is pressed. However, when i lift my foot off the gas and the car coasts the knocking is not there. The only time i've had real trouble with the car is at sub zero tempetures and the car doesn't either want to start or stay started when it does finally turn over. Oil is changed regularly.

Engine,? Oil being currently used ? Mileage/km. Has oil pressure been checked, or do you have a gauge for oil pressure?

knock sensor is located under the intake manifold in front of the starter. what codes did you have?

The knock sensor is threaded into the block of the engine, just below where the cylinder head sits. You will need to remove the intake plenum (upper and lower) to access this part.

If it's doesn't sound like it's your engine which i am thinking not. Check to see if there any heat shield that may have come lose, like the heat shield to the spark plug wire or heat sheild along the down pipe.
Good luck and hope this was the rattling your taking about as it heats up it expands and tighten's up.

sounds like you have a bad connection to the oil pressure sending unit or the sending unit itself is bad. look for a loose connection and if it's ok just replace the sending unit.
