Audi A3 quattro sport cam belt

Anyone any idea at what the suggested mileage is for changing an Audi a3 quattro cambelt. The engine is the 3.2 petrol

  • Anonymous Feb 28, 2009

Thanks Paul - I'm about to change my Primera GT (chain driven) for an A3 Quattro Sport and I had forgetten to ask about how the cams were driven. A stupid relapse on my part as I have experienced the dreaded "cam belt failure - valves through the pistons" before! You've put my mind at rest!!
    Thx again!!

My Audi A3 2.0 fsi sline Quattro is struggling to find gears ( very stiff to change and impossible to find reverse with the engine running)

First check the fluid level and make sure it is correct. If it's good you will then need to go to the dealership to have the codes pulled. I hope the problem is the fluid because it will be expensive otherwise.

I have an Audi A3 - 5 years old its done 16000 miles. They recommend it changed at 60000. Do i need to change the cam belt ?

if you want your engine to continue to work, follow the constructors instructions, they built and tested it to extend the life of your car

AUDI A3 intake flag motor

I had the exact same problem. The check engine light would come on then go off. I didn't notice any drivabiltiy issues. End the end I had to replace the flapper motor, the high pressure fuel pump and the camshaft. They showed me the old parts and sure enough the camshaft lobe was worn down and the cam follower that actuates the fuel pump was in pieces. Needless to say it was very expensive. It's been a problem posted on many Audi sites. I went ahead and had the timing belt changed. Now she's as good as new.

Audi a4 quattro

a rubber one, should be changed at 50-60,000 miles. Audis recomendation is like 90,000 I think but have heard of them going much sooner than that. A preventitive Cam -timing belt job way cheaper than doing it after it breaks and ruins valves and cylinders!

Telephoned Audi Main Dealers around Manchester – Macclesfield very helpful, others either disconnected or not answering. Manual costs £21.85 (inc. VAT) + postage .... Too big to actually download and print, I suspect!
