2001 bonneville, just up and die..........

My daughter said the car started to surge a little and it just died..... I have checked spark which it is good. I can also hear the fuel pump running. I sprayed starter fluid in but it just wont pop at all... Any help would be appreciated!!!

Replace the idle position sensor. If you can't get the car to an autoparts store for a code. if it is not the IPS then it is probably the Fuel Pressure regulator or the Crankshaft position sensor.

When replacing head gasket you had to disconnect and move spark plug wires and coil wire.Sounds to me if it ran for a little while then died out look for a burned wire by exhaust manifold.Something must of shorted out.Thats why it ran a little while and died.

Car died out yesterday an wont start
thats normal. if car died, its either spark or fuel. spray some staring fluid in the air filter box. 1 second sqirt, it it runs and dies, its a fuel problem, ck fuel pressure.

I have a 2000 Bonneville - I had a problem with the car stalling out - then it did not want to start back up. (When it did it would idle up and down and then die) I changed out the mass air flow sensor - now I have not had a problem. Good luck with it.

check the ignition control module and the crank sensor. the way it sounds is the module you can have it tested once you remove it crank sensor a little harder and can not be tested. mounted behind crankshaft pulley.

No,check for spark first. The security code comes off the key itself & never needs servicing. If no spark,there's a load of things to check,but start with the fuses, then engine codes. Should narrow it down a bit.
