Air bags deployed now 1996 lexus es 300 wont start

air bags only deploy when needed. just because you wrecked doesn't mean they should have deployed. it all depends on speed and inertia. obviously, you lived so the bags didnt need to deploy. feel lucky they didnt have to, they are like getting punched by mike tyson on a bad day

Her e are the options. If it used to, but does not now, could be a bad wire connection or a bad "air bag module" or defect in the computer.
In any regard, the air bag may not deploy when you need it to, if that light is not working.
That lack of a light might mean the circuit is now dead.
If it never did, any of the above conditions may be true, and one more.
The air bag may have deployed in a wreck and no one replaced it because of the extreme high cost, and you may have no air bag.

Find and reset the inertia switch. Air bags, wont kill the engine.

Is there any wire that got knock off,There is a important ground wire that is at the left front fender,this is controls the circuit opening relay that turns the fuel pump on, You need to start inspecting for open fuses and restore it

It really depends on the type of wreck you were in. Your seat belt being on or off does not have anything to do with whether or not the airbags would be deployed.
If they were not deployed it means that your car will not be labeled as totaled, which is a good thing.

Either the sensor in the bumper has lost communication with the airbag module, or the airbag module is bad, or the airbag package itself is damaged somehow.

I had the same issue. Same year, same model. I checked the manual and a flashing srs light has to do with the sensors for the side air bags and seatbelts. I jiggled the wires under the drivers seat and reseated the plug. Problem solved. Check under the passengers side too.

Your sensor is out car was in wreck and they never replace the sensor after fixing it

The airbag light staying on could be an indication that the abs computer ( located under passenger front seat ). may have gotten wet. These cars usually let water in from the front strut towers. The light staying on indicates a problem with the computer, possible things that could happed:
a: air bag DOES not deploy in an accident.
b: air bag does deploy for no reason whatsoever.

either of those could be bad.

best to have it inspected by a certified abs tech or the dealer
