How to remove the heater core 2001 lincoln town car

1998 Lincoln Town Car Heater Core

Discharge AC. Drain cooling system. Disconnect AC and heater hoses. Rip out dash. Rip out heater box. Swap in new heater core. Reverse to put back together.

Hate to tell you this, but you will need to remove the entire dashboard to access the heater core.

You have to take the hoses off the heater core at the fire wall and just put a u on thim to connect the two hoses

remove the whole dash to get the heater unit out ,sorry no short cuts available

That is about a 9 hour job. The heater core in in the Heater Air plenum chamber which is behind the dash. the dash has to be removed to replace the heater core. It is an involved job. Lots of bolts, screws wireing connectord and vacume connectors to remove and un plug. Some are behind the inner fender splash guard. The book wants you to remove the complete Heater Air Plenum, But it can be done with Patience and finess.

Approx $300 to repair heater core.

Go to Autozone and purchase a Clymer repair manuel. It will show how to remove the dash. You need to find all the screws.
