Engine cranks fine, but will only run 5-6 sec then dies. If you press the gas, it sputters and dies immediately.

Seems like a fuel delivery problem.
May be a bad fuel pump, clogged fuel filter or a fuel line problem.

What car make/model? What engine?

When it dies, try to turn ignition off immediately, wait a couple of seconds and turn the key quickly to the crank position (don't wait with the key in ignition-on position so that the fuel pump doesn't try to pump fuel into the fuel lines).
If it hesitates to start or runs significantly shorter before dying, you have pinpointed a problem with the fuel system.

Pls let me know what you find out.

I jump started the car. It cranked properly. Let it run for a few then shut it off. Now it won't start. When I turn the key everything seems to "die".

You have a bad connection at the battery, cable ends, or between the battery and engine or starter.

1991 land cruiser inline 6 running fine then died while driving. Electrical seems ok, engine cranks but won't start. Fuel pump? Alternator? thanks

check for spark first. if theres spark then crack a fuel line while trying to crank to c if theres fuel getting pumped to the injectors. always start with the basics then go from there.

Engine died.won't start.

Sounds like your crank sensor is faulty. These engines are known for crank sensor and ingition control module problems

Engine cranks. sparks but does not start. fuel pressure ok

Have you replaced the crank sensor? The crank sensor on top of the trans. bell housing does control the injector pulse through the ECM.
The sensor is a common problem with the Jeeps. Sometimes the sensor stops working when the engine is hot and will start again when it cools off and sometimes it dies from oil leaking on top of it or it just dies.
