Petrol leak saab 900 hatch.the outlet fitting (tank to metal pipe) at rear approx 20mm weeping fuel when over 3/4 full could be vent pipe. Any suggestions how to repair.

    I have a 95 Saab 900SE Conv't with a leak on the passenger side of the tank, at what looks like a cap? Its not the filler tube but a cap about 1.75" - 2" diameter. Is this fixable or do I have to replace the whole tank?? Thanks, David

Easily! The whole rubber surround can be replaced with a new one. The parts are cheap, but you might want to get a mechanic to do it anyway. It's not usually glued in or anything, just press-fitted.

Every car i've ever seen with a bad fuel smell and/or fuel leak up in that area has been a result of a cracked rubber seal.

The fuel tank is not holding pressure or vacuum because of leak,on the filler pipe or another leak.The computer cannot hold the tank vacuum for the specified time so pops the light on.Most fuel filler pipes and vent tube for filling are one unit.

Your fuel filler tube is leaking somewhere above the level of the fuel tank, If you lay on your back and look up you may see a flexible tube on the filler pipe, try to tighten the clamps or replace the hose. I hope this helps, Take care. Merry Christmas.

Just got saab 900s 2.0 petrol non turbo on a 98 plate ,is the old motor with dizzy cap ,fuel gauge stuck on full and no temp gauge ,whers best place to start look
The fuel gage is most likely the fuel level sending unit inside the fuel tank, the temp could be wiring or the temp sending unit on the engine, try that first.

Fuel leaking from top of fuel meter body what causes this?
you need to replace the lines. the inner core must be split and leaking out on the outer core. cut the lines about 3 inch and use a line pipe repair kit. and fix. sometimes there is a bit extra on the lines so you can cut 10 or 20mm off the line and fit it to the tank line.

Without having a look myself i would hazard a guess and say that teh fuel line is perished on teh rubber flexible that connects up with the fuel tank sender unit .Honestly cannot see it being a blocked fuel filter as never changed a petrol filter in 40 years .Diesel filters yes but petrol never only on old old cars with ,metal tanks have i had to clean them out and the gauze filter on the pick up pipe in the tank.

Fuel leaking from flexi pipe beside passenger rear
The only thing i can think of is, its a vent tube of some sort, but i can't understand why it comes out from under fuel tank, unless it runs from top of tank around under tank and back up and it looks like its commimg from bottom of tank.
