Lookdone ahundred of them o never went by book always on a nissan torque to 40 in center stagger pattern then 80 done any trouble while on job let kme know hey if u dont mind vote for me on fixya

i would check the distributor cap for cracks, this can draw moisture when it rains, and cause a engine to do as you are saying, spit and sputter, and even cut out.

Sounds like a tranny rebuild to me. It's not brain surgery but have someone helping you the first time you try this. Might just be easier to get another tranny from a bone-yard.
